In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.

This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week.  We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Picks to Click contributors for the 2019 season include: John Baetz (Kansas Pregame Magazine); Sean Boston (KSKZ Radio); Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Chet Kuplen (Sports in Kansas); Brent Maycock (Topeka Capital Journal); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).

Check back next Thursday to see our picks for Week 8, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.

Jack Caudle, QB, Maur Hill-Mount Academy (Nicholl)

The left-handed Caudle is a four-year starter who has led Maur Hill to a 5-1 record and just outside the Class 2A rankings. This season, Caudle has completed 77 of 113 passes for 1,280 yards with 18 touchdowns and two interceptions. In the last two games, Maur Hill has outscored teams 110-0 and Caudle has tossed nine TDs. In his career, Caudle has passed for 6,401 yards with 81 scores against just 24 interceptions. Maur Hill is at Pleasant Ridge (3-3).

Cole Coggins, RB, Valley Heights (Baetz)

Valley Heights senior running back Cole Coggins piled up 307 yards rushing on just 12 carries in last week's 64-20 win over Wabaunsee. His five TDs were from 25, 56, 73, 5 and 74 yards. Coggins now has 1,046 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns on the season and has tallied 3,700 yards rushing with 57 TDs in three seasons. While Northern Heights is enjoying their best season since 2015 the Wildcats had a hard time slowing down Centralia last week and they'll again be challenged by Valley Heights' Coggins and a talented offensive line.

Will Day, QB, Wichita Homeschool (Gilmore)

Senior quarterback Will Day has put up incredible numbers through the Warriors’ 6-0 start. Day (6-0, 185) has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,278 yards and 31 touchdowns without an interception. Day has also added 253 yards rushing and five scores. The Warriors will travel to Sunrise Christian with a chance to wrap up the Kansas Christian Athletic Association (KCAA) regular-season title. Last season the Warriors defeated Sunrise 88-66 behind a huge performance for Day. In last year’s game, Day passed for 282 yards and six touchdowns, and added 162 yards and four scores on the ground.

Shawn Hendershot, WR, Blue Valley North (Maycock)

There were big shoes to fill in the Blue Valley North passing game with the graduation of two-time All-State QB Graham Mertz and record-setting receiver Cameron Burt. While the Mustangs haven't been as prolific this season, the passing game is still strong and Hendershot leads a deep receiving corp. He has 43 catches for 575 yards and five TDs this year and is coming off a game against Blue Valley Southwest where he had 11 catches for 152 yards. Blue Valley Northwest has given up at least 28 points in every game this year and Hendershot and QB Henry Martin could have another big week.

Lance Hoffsommer, QB, Sedgwick (Boston)

The sophomore has helped lead the Cardinals to a 6-0 start on the year and a No. 5 spot in the 1A rankings. Sedgwick's offense has been explosive once again for coach Jeff Werner, as they've scored 31 or more points in all six games. Hoffsommer has been a big part of the offensive success, completing 63 percent of his passes for 1,697 yards to go along with 24 TD's and just 3 INT's. Sedgwick will host Sublette (1-5) on Friday night, so look for more monstrous offensive numbers from Hoffsommer and the Cardinals as they look to start 7-0 for the first time since 2015.

Dalton Mackley, QB/WR, Weskan (Kuplen)

Weskan is off to a 4-2 mark this year and the Mackley brothers have put up some monster numbers. Jace has thrown 30 touchdowns to just four interceptions over the first six weeks of the season, but will miss this week's game against Western Plains. Jace has thrown for 1,701 yards by completing 133 of 185 passes (72 percent completion). Dalton has more than 500 receiving yards and may play some quarterback this week. Weskan, led by head coach Brett Clow, gets Western Plains this week where they will be heavily favored. Weskan won the 2018 6-man Championship in the Wild West Bowl in Dodge City by defeating Golden Plains, 75-44.

Derrick Robinson II , RB, Lansing (Clisso)

Robinson (5-10, 190) has rushed for 486 yards in five games for the Lions. He’s averaging 8.7 yards per carry on the season and has scored a touchdown in four of the five games he’s played. Robinson has also caught five passes for 75 yards and a score on the season. The Lions have won two consecutive games to even their record at 3-3 and host winless KC Turner this week.
