In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.
This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week. We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.
Picks to Click contributors for the 2025 season include: Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Brent Maycock (KSHSAA Covered); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).
Check back next Thursday to see our picks for Week 5, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.
Klayton Adamson, RB, St. Mary’s Colgan (Gilmore)
Adamson (5-8, 165) has turned in incredible performances in each of the past two weeks. In the first game taking over the bulk of the carries, Adamson has rushed for 216 and three touchdowns in a 29-13 win over rival Frontenac. He followed that up by scoring five first-half touchdowns in last week’s 55-13 rout of Columbus. Adamson rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt 72 yards for another score against the Titans. He finished with 170 yards on 11 attempts in last week’s win. The Panthers begin district play on the road at Pleasanton. Expect Adamson to use his speed to have another big week for the Panthers.
Holden Lind, RB, Hays High (Nicholl)
Lind (5-8, 175) has been the workhorse back for a Hays team that has faced No. 1 ranked teams in each of the first three weeks. Lind has risen to the level of the competition with 480 yards rushing on 85 attempts. Last season, Lind rushed for 1,800 yards as Hays reached the first state title game in school history. Lind and the Indians will open Western Athletic Conference play against Garden City Friday night. Expect Lind to have a big game behind an Indian offensive line that is one of the state’s top units.
St. James Academy Offensive Line (Clisso)
St. James Academy is off to a 2-1 start and is ranked fifth in Class 5A. The Thunder are led by a strong offensive line unit that features senior Jack Godar at center, seniors Thomas Serrano and Brylan Mabion on the right side, junior Nate Bright at left tackle, and sophomore Case Spencer at left guard. They have helped the Thunder average more than 335 yards per game of total offense. St. James has shown good balance with 524 yards rushing and 485 yards passing through three games. The Thunder will host EKL rival Blue Valley this week.
Parker Schwarz, RB, Prairie View (Maycock)
Schwarz is already off to another huge season for the Buffaloes and last week ran for 288 yards and 4 touchdowns in a big 42-35 win over Wellsville after suffering two losses to the Eagles last year. Through three games, Schwarz has run for 640 yards and 10 TDs and this week gets a Burlington team that is 1-2.
