In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.

This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week.  We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Picks to Click contributors for the 2025 season include: Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Brent Maycock (KSHSAA Covered); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).

Check back next Thursday to see our picks for Week 6, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.

Andale Offensive Line (Maycock)

The top-ranked team and defending state champion in Class 3A, Andale has overwhelmed its first four opponents on its way to a 4-0 start. The Indians have outscored their opponents 229-21 in the first half of games this year behind a ground game that's picked up yardage in serious chunks this year. Andale's 1,629 rushing yards this season have come on just 155 attempts, putting the Indians at just over 10.5 yards per carry. Running behind starting linemen Rick Bertematti, Caden Fowler, Trey Hommertzheim, Emery Craft and Brody Winter as well as tight ends Ethan Eck and Hunter Grimes, 23 different backs have logged at least one carry this year and 13 different Indians have a rushing touchdown, led by quarterback Sam Harp (605 yards, 12 TDs). Andale has feasted against Nickerson in the last three seasons, outscoring the Panthers 251-13, including wins of 108-0 and 85-7.

Wichita Northwest Offensive Line (Gilmore)

Wichita Northwest will look to rebound from last week’s 43-42, overtime loss to Kapaun Mt. Carmel. Northwest racked up 541 total yards in the loss to Kapaun, including 350 yards on the ground. Both Augie Fast and Johnmichael Fountain left the game with injuries. Quarterback Jalen Mason and sophomore Trae Bell carried the ball on 24 of the Grizzlies’ 50 rushing attempts. Northwest features a talented offensive line that includes, Dustin Cochran, Brock Martin, Maddox McGinnis, and Deongelo Williams. The Grizzlies average 297 yards per game on the ground and 471 total yards per game. Northwest will take on Wichita West (1-3) this week. The Pioneers have allowed 41 points per game through the first four weeks.

Trai Woodruff, QB, Shawnee Mission Northwest (Clisso)

Woodruff directs the Shawnee Mission Northwest flexbone offense which averages 41.5 points per game. Woodruff has rushed for 545 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 57 attempts. He’s averaging 9.6 yards per carry and 136 yards per contest. Woodruff and the Cougars will have a huge challenge this week when they visit 5A-power Mill Valley.

Ashton Wynn, QB, WaKeeney-Trego (Nicholl)

Wynn is off to a huge start to the season for unbeaten and No. 3 WaKeeney-Trego. The senior quarterback has completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for 446 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also added 273 yards rushing and five scores on 42 attempts. In last week’s 56-46 win over Leoti-Wichita County, Wynn delivered 94 pass yards, 101 rush yards and two touchdowns. He also had 16 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. The Golden Eagles will host Ellis this week.
