In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.

This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week.  We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Picks to Click contributors for the 2025 season include: Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Brent Maycock (KSHSAA Covered); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).

Check back next Thursday to see our picks for Week 8, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.

Tate Foreman, QB, Thunder Ridge (Gilmore)

Foreman (5-10, 180) has had a breakout sophomore season for the high-scoring Longhorns. He has completed nearly 65 percent of his passes for 1,264 yards and 15 touchdowns against eight interceptions. In addition, Foreman has rushed for 665 yards and six scores. In last week’s 76-48 district win over Beloit St. John’s-Tipton, Foreman passed for 252 yards and four touchdowns and added 180 yards rushing on 30 attempts. Although Thunder Ridge is just 2-4 this season, the Longhorns’ four losses have come against opponents that are a combined 18-6. Foreman and the Longhorns can take a big step towards locking up a playoff spot with a win against Pike Valley this week.

Ty Janette, WR, Little River (Nicholl)

Janette (6-2, 180) is the leading receiver for a talented Redskin offense. As a junior last fall, Janette grabbed ten catches for 189 yards and four touchdowns. Through six games this season, Janette has ten catches and already surpassed his yardage total from a year ago. He has 209 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. His biggest night was a 126-yard, two-touchdown performance in a 70-30 win over Rural Vista. Little River has a key district game against defending state runner-up Central Plains this week. Janette and the Redskin offense will look to rebound from last week’s 22-20 loss to Ell-Saline.

Jaxon Pollard, RB, Lansing (Clisso)

Pollard (6-0, 205) is on pace for a second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. Just a junior, Pollard has rushed for 764 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Last year, Pollard carried 242 times for 1,092 yards and 13 scores. The Lions are looking to rebound from consecutive losses to Topeka Seaman and KC Piper. Lansing will host Shawnee Heights (2-4) this week.

Austin Swonger, QB, South Barber (Maycock)

Coming off a breakout sophomore season where he threw for nearly 1,300 yards and 28 touchdowns and added another 721 yards and 13 scores on the ground, Swonger has already nearly matched those numbers through just six games this fall. He's already thrown for 1,270 yards and 29 TDs and rushed for 352 yards and 4 TDs. He led South Barber to a 25-21 win over previously unbeaten Ingalls last week, throwing for 173 yards and 3 TDs and rushing for 147 yards and a score. The Chieftains take on Pawnee Heights this week, a team Swonger accounted for 5 TDs against a year ago.
