The Kpreps Picks to Click feature is back for the 2025 season!
In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.
This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week. We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.
Picks to Click contributors for the 2025 season include: Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Brent Maycock (KSHSAA Covered); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).
Check back next week to see our picks for Week 2, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.
Jamaal Jackson, RB, Labette County (Gilmore)
Jackson (5-10 ,180) returns for his senior year after a second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. Last fall, Jackson rushed for 1,822 yards and 18 touchdowns as the Grizzlies finished 5-5. He enters his senior season with 3,156career rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. The Grizzlies have an experienced team under first-year head coach Bradley Argabright. Labette County opens with rival Parsons this week. The Grizzlies won this contest 42-14 last year with Jackson rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Blake Jay, QB, Mill Valley (Clisso) **Jay was selected prior to Mill Valley’s win on Thursday night
Jay (5-11, 170) is a dynamic athlete for the Jaguars and has made an impact in several facets of the game last year. sides of the ball. Last fall, Jay rushed for 215 yards and two scores, had 234 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and also returned punts. On defense, he contributed 43 tackles, five pass breakups and an interception. This season, he’ll be in the backfield handling the quarterback duties. Jay and all-state back Reggie Reece will give the Jaguars a pair of weapons that can break open big plays at any moment. Mill Valley opens Thursday night with a trip to Olathe East.
Jameson Miles, WR, Peabody-Burns (Maycock)
Miles has been a big-time receiver since Day 1 of his freshman year, finishing that season with 800-plus yards and 18 touchdowns. He followed that up last season with 28 catches for 753 yards and 16 touchdowns. That included a season-best performance in last year's opener with Tescott in which he caught 8 passes for 262 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 40-39 shootout victory. Tescott shut Miles down in their playoff rematch, holding him to 1 catch, but expect Peabody to make sure they find their playmaker in this year's opener as they look to avenge that playoff loss to the Trojans.
Dylan Wark, RB, Golden Plains (Nicholl)
Golden Plains running back Dylan Wark rushed for 1,360 yards and 26 touchdowns and accounted for 40 scores overall a season ago. Wark headlines a Bulldog unit that is ranked third in Six-Man this year, Golden Plan's highest preseason ranking in more than a decade. The Bulldogs open with Moscow, a team it beat 62-16 last year. Golden Plains averaged 48.4 points per game, third-best in six-man football.
