Picks to Click -- Final Fantasy Standings

In our Picks to Click this season, we featured six players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of six media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top player performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Britton Abbott, QB, Liberal – 79 points in Week 3 (Nicholl)
  • Despite Liberal’s 52-38 loss to Hays, Abbott had a huge night. The senior passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns and added 172 yards rushing and a pair of scores.
  1. Ryan Schadler, RB, Hesston – 64 points in Week 5 (Kuplen)
  • Schadler continued his incredible season with 285 yards rushing and five touchdowns. He also caught a 6-yard touchdown pass to help Hesston beat Kingman 41-27.
  1. Traevohn Wrench, RB, Gardner-Edgerton – 58 points in Week 9 (Kuplen)

  1. Greyson Tempel, QB, Garden City – 54 points in Week 6 (Schremmer)
  • Tempel passed for 149 yards and three touchdowns and added 160 rushing yards and a score as Garden City beat Wichita East 35-7.
  1. Trent Rietzke, RB, Thunder Ridge – 49 points in Week 3 (Gilmore) &
  • Rietzke rushed for 187 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Longhorns past Logan-Palco, 58-12.  He also caught three passes for 14 yards out of the backfield.

Peyton Yandel, QB, South Barber – 49 points in Week 8 (Gilmore)

  • South Barber beat Norwich 62-14 in a game that ended at halftime. Yandel passed for 106 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 99 yards and three scores.
  1. Ryan Perkins, DB, Southern Cloud – 48 points in Week 2 (Baetz)
  • Perkins registered 22 tackles and intercepted a pass, but Southern Cloud fell 60-14 to Beloit St. John’s-Tipton.
  1. Braeden Crites, QB, Central Plains – 47 points in Week 9 (Gilmore)

  1. Krystian Abbott, QB, Lansing – 45 points in Week 8 (Clisso)
  • Abbott completed 14 of 26 passes for 335 yards and two touchdowns before leaving with an injury in Lansing’s 42-35 loss to KC Schlagle.
  1. Dylan Allison, LB, South Barber – 44 points in Week 5 (Schremmer)
  • Allison registered 17 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and forced a fumble in the Chieftains 64-28 win over Macksville. 
     

Week Nine Picks to Click results (scoring):

Braeden Crites, QB, Central Plains – Crites completed 8 of 17 passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns in the Oilers’ 38-14 win over Little River. The sophomore QB also rushed for 76 yards and two more touchdowns as Central Plains wrapped up the district championship. (Gilmore – 47pts)

Gabe Helton, RB, Galena – Helton rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the Bulldogs Week 9 win over Riverton. Helton finished with 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns during the regular season. (Schremmer – 12 pts)

Riley Juenemann, QB, Phillipsburg – Juenemann completed 8 of 13 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ 20-16 win over Norton. He also carried 12 times for 14 yards and a score. (Nicholl – 25 pts)

Chance Nelson, RB, Blue Valley  – Nelson carried 20 times for 113 yards and caught two passes for 40 yards in the Tigers 18-17 loss to Blue Valley West. (Clisso –17 pts)

Avery Urban, FB, Hoisington – Urban carried eleven times for 62 yards in the Cardinals 26-17 win over Thomas More Prep. (Baetz – 6 pts)

Traevohn Wrench, RB, Gardner-Edgerton – Wrench carried 28 times for 220 yards and six touchdowns as the Trailblazers beat Olathe Northwest 56-28 to close out the regular season. (Kuplen –58 pts)


2013 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle

- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
