In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.

This season, we have assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week.  We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Picks to Click contributors for the 2024 season include: Dion Clisso (PrepsKC.com); Matt Gilmore (Kpreps.com); Brent Maycock (KSHSAA Covered); and Conor Nicholl (Kpreps.com).

Check back next Thursday to see our picks for Week 8, and how the players performed that we picked the week prior. See the bottom of this article for details.

Augie Fast, RB, Wichita Northwest (Gilmore)

Fast (6-1, 190) has been a breakout player in his first year at Wichita Northwest. The Maize transfer has rushed for 991 yards and eight touchdowns in the Grizzlies’ first six games. He is averaging 7.6 yards per carry and more than 165 yards per game on the ground. Northwest will look to rebound from last week’s loss at No. 2 Manhattan. Fast will look to get back on track after being limited to 15 carries for 40 yards last week. The Grizzlies will take on a much-improved Wichita South team that is 4-2 and riding a three-game win streak.

Jackson Heights Offensive Line (Maycock)

Heights has been dominant in rolling to a 6-0 start, outscoring its opponents 326-15. The Cobras have scored at least 53 points in five of six games and are averaging 54.3 points per game. The offensive line unit of Max Watkins, Cash Robinson, Jace Doyle, Anthony Gulotta and J.W. Moore have paved the way for 414 yards of offense per game with three backs having over 330 yards rushing and quarterback Drake Mellies having thrown for 727 yards. Friday's foe, Valley Falls, is winless this season and is giving up 39.8 points per game.

Dalton Meyers, LB, Hays High (Nicholl)

Meyers (6-2, 190) is the defending Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and is off to another strong season this fall. Meyers have registered 32 tackles, including five for loss, and two sacks. He has forced two fumbles, recovering one in the Indians’ first six games. Hays High has won three straight games to improve to 4-2. The Indians travel to 5A No. 5 Great Bend this week in a showdown of the two teams atop the WAC standings.

Myles Vohs, WR, Louisburg (Clisso)

Moore (5-7, 160) is putting together a great season for the top-ranked Wildcats. Vohs has registered four consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards and three consecutive games with two touchdown catches. For the season, Vohs has 28 catches for 663 yards and nine touchdowns. Last week, Vohs had six catches for 129 yards and two scores in the win over Wichita West. Louisburg remains the only unbeaten team in Class 4A and will need another strong performance to stay that way. The Wildcats travel to Ottawa to take on the 5-1 Cyclones this week.
