We have assembled a team of six media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week. We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Chase Crawford, LB, Valley Center (Schremmer)
The 6-foot, 180-pound senior has been a tackling machine for the 3-3 Hornets. Crawford has compiled 110 tackles, including 64 solo, in only six games. He's already surpassed the 102 tackles he registered a junior. This season, Crawford also has recorded four pass deflections, a forced fumble and two blocked field goals. Valley Center will need a strong performance Friday as it faces a 5-1 Maize South Mavericks team that has scored more than 40 points in four of six games.
Korie Frausto, QB, Maize South (Baetz)
Kansas Pregame coverboy Korie Frausto has been clutch in helping the Mavericks to a 5-1 record. Frausto has rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and passed for nearly 900 more yards through six games this season. While Valley Center is much improved in their third year under coach Caleb Smith, containing Frausto continues to be a challenge for any defense he faces.
Hayden Friend, QB, Plainville (Nicholl)
Plainville continues to put up big offensive numbers and won at La Crosse, 38-20, last Friday. The win by the Cardinals was their first over the Leopards in school history. Plainville has tallied 192 points, well more than it had all last season, and the main reason is the decision to put the speedy junior at quarterback. Friend has 1,249 passing yards and six scores and rushed for 542 yards and 16 touchdowns. Plainville (2-4) plays host to struggling Leoti-Wichita County this Friday before finishing with key games against Oakley and Ellis.
Logan Koch, QB, Mill Valley (Clisso)
Koch (6-0, 200) is the spark plug behind the Mill Valley offense and a big reason why the Jaguar program has ascended to No. 1 in Class 5A. So far this season, Koch has completed 62 percent of his passes for 952 yards and 13 touchdowns against only two interceptions. He’s rushed for 498 yards and eight scores, good for an average of nearly seven yards per attempt. For his career, Koch has thrown for 2,262 yards and 27 touchdowns, while rushing for 3,049 yards and 43 scores. Friday the Jaguars will travel to No. 5-ranked St. James Academy (6-0) for a key showdown in Class 5A District 3.
Lane Peters, RB, Pike Valley (Kuplen)
Peters leads the Pike Valley offense and has already had an exceptional season. The sophomore running back has rushed for 1,163 yards and 19 touchdowns thus far this season. He earned Kpreps All-District honors as a freshman in 2014 when he rushed for nearly 800 yards and 13 scores. Last week, Peters (5-9, 150) carried 35 times for 428 yards and seven touchdowns in the Panthers’ 74-50 win over Frankfort. He’ll need another big game this week if Pike Valley is to pick up a road win at Axtell.
Wichita Northwest Offensive Line (Gilmore)
Wichita Northwest has rolled to a 6-0 record and the No. 3 ranking in Class 6A this season. The Grizzlies have averaged more than 53 points per game this season. Now, Northwest enters a brutal district that includes unbeaten Garden City, Hutchinson (5-1), and Dodge City (4-2). Wichita Northwest begins district play at Dodge City and face a Red Demon defense that surrendered 37.6 points per game against other Wichita City League opponents. The Red Demons have only given up 10 total points since in three wins over Western Athletic Conference opponents. The Northwest offensive line has paved the way for an average of 556 total yards per game including 370 rushing yards per contest. Grizzly quarterback Kevin Folsom suffered a knee injury in last week’s win over Wichita South, but may play. If he can’t go, Jacob Devereaux will likely fill in and it will be up to the offensive line to protect him to lead Northwest one step closer to the playoffs.

Will Bruna, QB, Hanover – Bruna completed 11 of 13 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 58-12 win over Lincoln. Bruna also added 44 yards rushing and three touchdowns on five carries. (Gilmore – 69 pts)
Mason Eilert, WR, Beloit St. John’s-Tipton – Victoria’s defense only gives up 8 points per game and they were able to shut down Eilert in a 52-6 win over St. John’s-Tipton. Eilert did not register a catch on the night. (Nicholl --0 pts)
Riley England, RB, Osawatomie – England rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries in the Trojans’ 53-0 win over Central Heights. (Baetz –35 pts)
Brandon Mlekus, QB, Frontenac – Mlekus completed 14 of 18 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Mlekus also rushed for 84 yards and a score on seven carries. (Schremmer –39 pts)
Bryce Steffens, LB, St. James Academy – Steffens registered a team-high nine total tackles in the Thunder’s 48-0 shutout of Coffeyville. (Clisso – 18 pts)
Caden Walters, QB, Dodge City – Walters completed 14 of 24 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns for the Red Demons in their 37-3 win over Hays. (Kuplen –52 pts)

2015 Picks to Click
- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.
- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.
- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.
- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.
Scoring system
QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs
- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver
- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown
Offensive line
- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense
- 3 points for every offensive touchdown
Defensive player
- 2 points for every tackle, TFL, sack
- 4 points for every INT or fumble recovery
