In the Fan’s Choice for Kpreps Game of the Week, 4A-II No. 4 Holcomb topped 4A-I No. 5 Ulysses 17-14 in overtime. Holcomb’s Trey Teeter hit a 31-yard field goal in overtime to life the Longhorns to the win.
Ulysses got the ball first in overtime after the Longhorns and Tigers ended regulation tied at 14. The Tigers’ possession ended when Ian Rudzik was stopped on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
Holcomb got the ball and lost yardage before Teeter kicked the winning field goal on third down.
Ulysses got on the board early in the game on a 78-yard run by Ian Rudzik, but Holcomb led 14-7 at halftime.

In a battle of ranked teams from the Sunflower League, No. 2 Olathe North held off No. 5 Olathe South 27-26 in double overtime.
Trailing 26-20 in the second overtime, Venus Triplett tied the game for the Eagles with a touchdown run. Dylan Less’ hit the point-after-touchdown to give Olathe North the 27-26 win. Olathe South missed a PAT on their touchdown in the second overtime.
Olathe South raced out to a 13-0 lead before North tied the game at 13 at halftime. The two teams each scored touchdowns on their first overtime possession before the deciding PATs in the second OT.

Perhaps the statement win of the night went to Bishop Miege as 4A-I’s top ranked team throttled 6A No. 3 Blue Valley 42-21.
Ryan Willis threw four touchdown passes in the first half as the Stags raced to a 42-7 halftime lead. Dawson Downing caught two touchdown passes and rushed for two more scores in the opening half for Miege.
Blue Valley tacked on a pair of second-half touchdowns in order to make the final score more respectable.

Kansas Game Day presented by Kpreps was in Columbus for a CNC League showdown between 4A-II’s second-ranked Titans and 3A contender Galena.
Columbus quarterback Nate Bole rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns as the Titans scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away for a 27-6 win. Bole also completed 6 of 9 passes for 77 yards.
Columbus running back Jace McDown rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Logan Johnson led the Bulldogs with 77 yards rushing and their only touchdown.
The Titans improved to 3-0, while Galena fell to 1-2.

In the Holy War battle between Bishop Carroll and Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Denzel Goolsby rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns as the top-ranked Golden Eagles routed the Crusaders 49-7.
Goolsby scored three touchdowns in the first quarter as Carroll built an insurmountable 35-0 halftime lead.
Carroll quarterback Colton Howell passed for 167 yards and a pair of touchowns.
The Eagle defense held Kapaun to only 33 rushing yards on 30 attempts.

Andale held off Wichita Collegiate 34-28 to remain unbeaten and atop the Class 4A-II poll. Trailing 28-21 late in the third quarter, Andale quarterback Luke Walstad connected with Jason Hermreck on a 60-yard touchdown pass to tie the game.
In the fourth quarter, Hank Eck broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run to give the Indians a 34-28 lead.
The defense would come up with a fourth-down stop later in the quarter and preserve another close win over the Spartans. Andale defeated Collegiate 30-28 to open the season last year.
Tyler Burns rushed for 365 yards and seven touchdown as Wichita Trinity outscored Chaparral 53-46.
Chaparral led 20-14 at halftime before Trinity scored 26 points in the third quarter to take a 40-27 lead.
Chaparral quarterback Shawn Nulik rushed for three touchdowns and passed for more than 330 yards and three more scores in the loss.

Tre King scored on a three-yard touchdown run with about 30 seconds remaining to lift 5A No. 2 Wichita Heights to a 26-21 road win at Dodge City.
King’s score came with the Falcons trailing the Red Demons 21-19. Heights had trailed 21-13 earlier in the fourth quarter before King scored with just under six minutes remaining.
The Falcons will take on top-ranked Bishop Carroll in Week Four.

Maize rallied from two touchdowns down in the fourth quarter only to fall 29-28 to Salina Central.
The Eagles trailed 29-15 before quarterback Connor Lungwitz pulled them closer with a touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. Lungwitz then hit Gabe Chavez on a touchdown pass with under 30 seconds remaining to pull the Eagles within 29-28.
Maize coach Gary Guzman decided to go for the two-point conversion and the win, but the attempt was unsuccessful allowing the Mustangs to pull off the upset.

Caden Knoblauch booted a 39-yard field goal with 1:46 remaining in the game to break a scoreless tie and propel Kingman to a 3-0 win over Larned.
The win moved to the Eagles record to 3-0. Kingman has yet to allow a point this season.

Joe Trujillo connected on a 28-yard field goal as time expired to lift Manhattan to a 23-20 come-from-behind win over Topeka Hayden.
The Wildcats led 14-0 at halftime before Manhattan’s Chris Martin got the Indians back in the game with a pair of third-quarter touchdown runs.
Martin then threw a touchdown pass to Jake Olson with five minutes remaining to tie the game at 20.
A late Hayden turnover set up Trujillo’s winning kick.
Manhattan has now defeated Hayden three straight times by a combined nine points.

Ottawa scored a touchdown with 0.3 seconds remaining in the game to overtake Spring Hill 44-43.
The Cyclones trailed 43-37 until a touchdown tied the game at 43 with less than a second remaining.
Luke Snider then converted the PAT to give the Cyclones the 44-43 win.

After trailing 7-0 for almost the entire first half, 3A No. 3 Conway Springs rattled off four unanswered scores to beat rival Garden Plain 25-7.
Garden Plain led 7-0 until less than a minute remaining in the first half when Luke Fisher scored the first of his four touchdowns on the night.
Fisher finished with nearly 150 rushing yards and four scores on the night. Travis Wood also broke the 100-yard mark rushing for the Cardinals.
