6A GIRLS

(4) Maize 42, (1) Manhattan 35 – Maize avenged a semi-finals loss last season by advancing to the 6A state championship game after a 42-35 win over top-seeded Manhattan. Keiryn Swenson led Maize with 16 points and was one rebound short of a double-double after pulling down nine rebounds. Daley Handy added 11 points and three steals. Darby Price led Manhattan with 12 points and seven rebounds.
- (2) Wichita South 50, (3) Olathe South 40 – Wichita-South will have a chance to repeat as 6A state champions after defeating Olathe-South 50-40 in the Class 6A girls' state semi-finals. The Titans had three girls in double figures led by Eledria Franklin's 16 points. Madison Northcutt and Kirea Rogers had 13 points and 12 points, respectively. Northcutt also grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Olathe-South was led by Jordan Morton who scored a team high 14 points and pulled down a team high nine rebounds.
5A GIRLS
- (1) Leavenworth 48, (5) Kapaun Mt. Carmel 26 – Leavenworth held Kapaun Mount Carmel to just 15 percent shooting for the game in winning by 22. The Lady Crusaders were held scoreless in the second quarter as Leavenworth built a 21-8 halftime lead. Junior Tyler Johnson led the Lady Pioneers with 19 points, while Emma Zeck added 11 points.
- (2) Salina Central 76, (3) Great Bend 58 – Salina Central raced out to a 22-11 lead after one quarter and ran past Great Bend, 76-58. Shaelyn Marting scored 25 points to lead the Lady Mustangs, while Emily Wood scored 18. Great Bend was led by Lauren Welsch’s 12 points and Kaylie Doll’s 10.
4A-I GIRLS
- (1) Wamego 52, (4) KC Piper 39 – Top-seeded Wamego advanced to the state title game by defeating the Piper Lady Pirates 52-39. Wamego led 24-18 at halftime and 42-28 after three quarters. Lanie Page scored 18 points to lead the Red Raiders, while her sister Kaylee Page added 11. Caitlin Claussen also scored 13 for Wamego. Jessica Wayne led the Pirates with 12, while Haley White added 10.
- (2) Bishop Miege 64, (6) Andover Central 52 – Bishop Miege ran out to a 23-5 first quarter lead on Andover Central in beating the Trojans 64-52. The Lady Stags were led by Shelbe Piggie’s 26 points, while Tristen McFeders added 15 and Madeline Homoly 12. Andover Central was paced by Skyler Snodgrass who scored 18 and Brooke Pedersen who scored 13.
4A-II GIRLS
- (4) Santa Fe Trail 46, (1) Burlington 31 – Santa Fe Trail avenged a mid-season loss to Burlington by besting the Lady Wildcats 46-31 to advance to the 4A-II state title game. Shelby Dahl and Amber Moore led the Chargers with 12 points each. Burlington was led by Alex Dorcas’ 14 points. The Lady Wildcats shot under 30 percent for the game.
- (2) Frontenac 38, (6) Holton 35 – Frontenac outscored Holton 14-10 in the final quarter to advance to the title game with a 38-35 win. The Lady Raiders were led by Bailey Flora’s 15 points, while Haley Wilson scored 12 including all three of her team’s three pointers. Holton went 0-for-8 from behind the arc for the game and 0-for-4 at the foul line in the second half.
3A GIRLS
- (8) Lyons 48, (5) Nemaha Valley 39 – The No. 8 seed Lyons Lady Lions advanced to the state title game with a nine-point win over Nemaha Valley. The Lady Lions used a 20-12 third quarter to open up an 13-point lead. Aubrey Hollinger led Lyons with 14 points, while Brenna McClure added 12. Nemaha Valley was led by Jaci Swart with 12 points, while Rachael Baumgartner added 11.
- (2 Hesston 42, (6) Council Grove 27 – Hesston advanced to the 3A state title game with a 42-27 win over Council Grove. The Lady Swathers outscored the Lady Braves 17-9 in the second half win. Kelsey Unruh led Hesston with 11 points, while Caylee Richardson and Cami Richardson each scored nine. Kate Hula led Council Grove with 12 points.
2A GIRLS

(1) Central Plains 60, (5) Meade 45 – Central Pains opened up a 15-point lead and rolled past Meade 60-45 in the 2A semifinals. The Lady Oilers were led by Taylor Rolfs who scored 19 points. Meade freshman Jaylin Stapleton scored 16 in a losing effort.
- (2) Jefferson Co. North 59, (3) Washington County 42 – Jacee Kramer scored 22 points as Jefferson County North rolled past Washington County, 59-42. The Lady Chargers scored 37 points in the first half in opening up an 18-point lead. Heather Polson scored 16 points for the Chargers and Jamie Navinskey added 14.
1A-I GIRLS
- (1) Hoxie 67, (5) Osborne 43 – Hoxie extended its winning streak to 72 games with a 67-43 win over Osborne. The Lady Indians were led by Carly Heim’s 16 points, while Lexi Schamberger added 14 and Kristina Farber scored 11. Caitlyn Miller led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 and Taylor Noel added 12.
- (2) Valley Heights 54, (3) St. Paul 41 – Valley Heights used a 20-6 blitz in the third quarter to knockout St. Paul, 54-41. The Mustangs were led by Sidney Blackburn with 22 points, while Brandi Jo Roepke added 14. The Lady Indians were led by Jordyn Tuck with 12 and Josie Albertini with 11.
1A-II Girls
- (1) Baileyville B&B 40, (5) Dighton 37 – Lauran Sudbeck gave Baileyville B&B a the lead for good with :46 seconds remaining and the Falcons hit their free throws to hold off Dighton, 40-37. Sudbeck led the Lady Falcons with 15 points, while Katie Huerter added nine. Leslie Speer led Dighton with 12 points and nine rebounds.
- (3) Golden Plains 52, (2) Bucklin 49 – Golden Plains won a tight battle with Bucklin to advance to the 1A-II state title game. The Lady Bulldogs got 20 points apiece from Hailee Spresser and Jordan Christensen. Bucklin was led by Janae Price and Morgan Hood with 17 points each, while Allyson Rudd added 11.
6A BOYS

(1) Blue Valley Northwest 61, (4) Maize 42 – The Huskies cruised to a 61-42 win over the Maize Eagles to advance to the 6A boys' state championship game on Saturday night as it looks to repeat as Class 6A state champions. Iowa State commit, Clayton Custer led Blue Valley Northwest with 20 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting. Ben Richardson added 12 points and led the team with six rebounds in the win.
- (6) Blue Valley North 66, (2) Wichita East 63 - Blue Valley North survived a late comeback attempt from Wichita-East to advance to the 6A Boys state championship game on saturday night after 66-63 win. Cooper Cook recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mustangs. Grant Schraeder and Jawan Anthony Emery each scored 13 points for Blue Valley North. Samajae Jones scored 23 points in the loss.
5A BOYS
- (1) Lansing 72, (5) Wichita Heights 71, OT – In maybe the game the of the week, No. 1 seed Lansing outlasted Wichita Heights 72-71 in overtime. Zach Jackson hit two free throws with under ten seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Lions to victory. Jackson scored 12 in the game while Joe Lendway scored 21 points and Joe Schneider scored 19 for Lansing. Heights was led by Davon Gill’s 17 points.
- (3) Topeka Highland Park 48, (2) Hays 40 – Highland Park knocked off previously unbeaten Hays High 48-40 to advance to the 5A title game. The Scots outscored the Indians 15-8 in the fourth quarter to earn at shot at a fifth state title under retiring coach Ken Darting. Jahmal McMurray scored 19 points to lead the Scots, while Hays was led by Brady Werth who scored 19.
4A-I BOYS
- (7) Topeka Hayden 50, (6) El Dorado 48 – Hayden held off El Dorado 50-48 in the battle of lower seeded teams to advance to the state title. Marcus Meier scored Hayden’s first 20 points in the game and finished with 32 points and eight rebounds. Jacob Head chipped in 10 for the winners. El Dorado was led by Travis House who scored 12, while Johnstone Scott scored 10.
- (1) McPherson 59, (4) Paola 56, OT -- Kyler Kinnamon completed an old fashioned three point play with 22 seconds remaining to lift McPherson to a 59-56 win over Paola. Kinnamon scored 13 points in the game for the Bullpups, but Peter Horton led McPherson with 22 points and nine rebounds. Paola’s 6-foot-7 sophomore Mason McDow led the Panthers with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Lucas Wilson scored 16.
4A-II BOYS
- (4) Eudora 44, (1) Andale 43 – Eudora outscored Andale 18-11 in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback from down 11 points. The Cardinals were led by freshman Mitchell Ballock who scored 14, while his brother Andrew hipped in 12. Andale was led by Clint Walstad’s 12 points.
- (2) Scott City 77, (3) Concordia 75, OT – Scott City will get a chance at winning a fourth consecutive state championship after outlasting Concordia 77-75 in overtime. After a wild high scoring four quarters, the Beavers outscored the Panthers just 6-4 in the extra period. Scott was led by Trey O’Neil’s 31 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the three-point arc. Brett Meyer added 18 and Sloan Baker 11 for the Beavers. Grant Holmes scored 30 for Concordia, while his brother Cooper Holmes poured in 27.
3A BOYS
- (2) Beloit 58, (3) Nemaha Valley 54 – Beloit outscored Nemaha Valley by five points combined in the second and third quarters which proved to be the difference in the Trojans advancing. Bailey Vetter scored 19 points to lead Beloit, while Payton Vetter added 16. Caleb Meyer followed-up his 31-point performance in the opening round with 21 more on Friday for the Raiders.
- (1) Hesston 58, (4) Riverton 51 – Unbeaten Hesston outscored Riverton 27-15 to join the Swather girls in playing for a 3A state title on Saturday. Riverton led 36-31 entering the fourth quarter before the Swathers rallied. Wyatt McKinney led Hesston with 18, while Ryan Schadler scored 15. Riverton was led by Landon North’s 24 and Grant North’s 16.
2A BOYS

(1) St. John 57, (4) Olpe 47 – Top-seeded and unbeaten St. John outscored Olpe 29-19 combined in the second and third quarters to advance to the 2A state title game. Dean Wade scored 15 points to lead the Tigers, while Jorge Calleros added 14. Olpe struggled at the four line connecting on just 7-of-17 attempts.
- (2) Plainville 45, (7) St. Mary’s Colgan 41 -- Colgan raced out to a 14-6 lead in the first quarter before foul trouble started to impact the Panther offense. Austin Commons picked up his second foul late in the first quarter and sat the remainder of the half with 11 points. Playing without leading scorer Luke Marquardt for the postseason, Colgan struggled to find a second scoring option. Plainville controlled the game from there on out and eventually won 45-41. The Cardinals went 17-20 from the foul line, while Colgan finished just 4 of 11. Colgan also uncharacteristically turned the ball over 19 times. Commons finished with 20 points for Colgan, while Gillum led Plainville with 17 points after connecting on 11-of-12 free throws.
1A-I BOYS
- (1) Marais des Cygnes Valley 45, (5) Spearville 38 – Top-seeded Marais des Cygnes Valley remained unbeaten with a 45-38 win over Spearville. The Trojans were led by 14 points entering the fourth quarter before holding off the Royal Lancers. Brett Schimmel scored 13 points to lead the Trojans, while Kaden Vanderpool and Matt Jones added 12 points each. Nathan Stein scored 14 and Kaden Stein added 12 for Spearville.
- (2) Hoxie 48, (3) Valley Heights 43 – Kade Spresser scored 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds as Hoxie held off Valley Heights by five. The Indians used a 14-4 first quarter to build the advantage and held on despite being outscored in each of the remaining three quarters. Elijah Smith and Charles Musil led the Mustangs with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
1A-II BOYS
- (1) Beloit St. John’s-Tipton 67, (4) Chetopa 29 – St. John’s-Tipton held Chetopa to just 13 percent shooting in the first half in building a commanding 40-8 lead en route to a 67-29 win. The Blujays, which shot 52 percent for the game, were led by Trey Dubbert’s 20 points and Luke Eilert’s 15. Chetopa’s Sherrick Rogers and Austen Sanders finished in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively.
- (2) Sharon Springs-Wallace County 69, (6) Baileyville B&B 46 – The Wallace County Wildcats avenged a loss to Baileyville B&B in the state football title by knocking off the Falcons, 69-46. The Wildcats shot 46 percent for the game including 6-for-11 from three-point range in the first half. Cayden Dailey led four Wildcats in double figures with 21. Cameron Haug led the Falcons with 10 points.
