6-Man Football Playoffs

VIEW: 6-Man Bracket

North-No. 1 Cheylin (8-0) - BYE

Cheylin is 8-0 and has the program’s most victories in a season since 2011. The Cougars feature maybe 6-Man’s most dynamic offensive player in junior quarterback Colton McCarty. McCarty has rushed for 1,752 yards and 33 touchdowns this season, while also passing for 872 more yards and 16 scores. Andrew Schields and Tyler Sabatka have each tallied more than 400 receiving yards with 16 combined touchdowns. For his career, McCarty has already rushed for 4,143 yards and 72 touchdowns with 2,546 passing yards and 51 more scores.


North-No. 3 Golden Plains (5-3) at South-No. 2 Pawnee Heights (5-3)Golden Plains

Golden Plains and Pawnee Heights have each lost to the same three teams. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers were defeated by top seeds Moscow and Cheylin, and both also fell to Weskan. Golden Plains played Moscow within 12 points and Cheylin within 10, while Pawnee Heights were shut out by both of those teams. Golden Plains is led by senior Harley Weese who has rushed for 1,285 yards and 23 touchdowns. Pawnee Heights counters with sophomore Braden Colglazier and senior Jackson Henbest carrying the ball.
 

South-No. 1 Moscow (8-0) - BYE

In just its second season of 6-Man football, Moscow cruised to the South Division title with an unbeaten regular season. The Wildcats (8-0) have their most wins in a season since an 8-2 finish in 2011. Moscow averages 48.9 points per game while allowing only 19.9 per contest. Senior Austin Snyder may be 6-Man’s most physical player. Snyder has averaged around the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each of his last three seasons and enters the playoffs with 928 yards and 20 total touchdowns. Snyder is also a standout defensive player with six interceptions and seven fumble recoveries.  Moscow compliments Snyder’s physical play in the backfield with the speed of Adan Granillo. Granillo has more than 650 rushing yards on the season with 12 total touchdowns. Moscow is 4-0 against the other playoffs teams in the bracket.
 

South-No. 3 Ashland (6-2) at North-No. 2 Weskan (5-3)Weskan

Ashland finished third in the South Division standings and is rewarded with a trip to Weskan to take on the two-time, 6-Man champion Coyotes. Gage Branson leads the Blue Jay ground game with more than 700 rushing yards, while Gus Krier and Kash McPhail have each contributed more than 500 yards each. For Weskan, Jace Mackley is a returning all-state selection and has passed for more than 1,700 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. Dalton Mackley and Mac Purvis have also had solid seasons on offense for the Coyotes. Weskan’s three losses have come to unbeatens Moscow and Cheylin, and a 65-61 loss to Natoma.

 

Kansas Christian Athletic Association (KCAA)

VIEW: KCAA Bracket

No. 1 Wichita Homeschool (7-0) – BYE

The Warriors completed another unbeaten regular season in dominating fashion. Wichita Homeschool has scored more than 61 points per game this season while giving up only eight points per contest. The Warriors feature a strong passing attack with senior quarterback Will Day. Day has passed for 1,674 yards and 37 touchdowns against only one interception. He also leads the ground attack with 335 yards and six scores. Carson Emmot is Day’s leading receiver with 26 catches for 674 yards and 16 touchdowns, while Kip Ammons has 449 yards (10 TD) and Luke Johnson has 424 yards (7 TD).


No. 4 Manhattan-Flint Hills Christian (4-4) vs. No. 5 Veritas Christian (2-7)Manhattan Eagles

The only first-round game will feature Manhattan-Flint Hills Christian and Veritas Christian. This is a rematch of a Week 4 game won by the Manhattan Eagles, 56-12. The Eagles began the season with three straight wins before losing four of their next five games. Veritas Christian has had the rare opportunity to play each week without an open date. The Veritas Eagles two victories came in back-to-back close games in late September and early October. Veritas defeated KC East Christian 38-36, then held off Wichita Life Prep Academy, 38-32 in overtime.


No. 2 St. Mary’s Academy (5-1) -- BYE

St. Mary’s Academy finished the regular a season with only a 54-6 loss to Wichita Homeschool. The Crusaders have won four straight games since that loss back in mid-September. The Crusaders have averaged 41 points per game while surrendering 26 per game. St. Mary’s will face Cair Paravel in the state semifinals next week. The Crusaders beat Cair Paravel 50-21 back on October 4th.


No. 3 Cair Paravel (3-4) -- BYE

Cair Paravel has won two consecutive games since a 1-4 start to the season. The Lions have wins over Veritas Christian and the Manhattan Eagles in consecutive weeks. The Lions have averaged 38 points per game this season while giving up 43 points per contest. Cair Paravel will face St. Mary’s Academy in the state semifinals next week. The Lions lost to St. Mary’s 50-21 back on October 4th.
