In our Picks to Click this season, we featured six players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of six media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top player performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Zac Walter, QB, Lincoln – 74 points in Week 2 (Baetz)
  • Walter had a huge night in Lincoln’s 60-14 win over Sylavn-Lucas. Zac passed for 121 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 207 yards and five touchdowns.
  1. Tyler Waggoner, QB, Quinter – 67 points in Week 6 (Nicholl)
  • Waggoner completed 9 of 13 passes for 315 yards and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 54-34 win over Logan-Palco. Tyler also added 62 yards rushing on five attempts.
  1. Grant Raleigh, QB, Hesston – 64 points in Week 6 (Kuplen)
  • Raleigh passed for 225 yards and five touchdowns and added 129 yards rushing in Hesston’s 49-39 win over Pratt.
  1. Tristan Speer, QB, Troy – 62 points in Week 5 (Baetz)
  • Speer completed 15 of 21 passes for 235 yards and five touchdowns in the Trojans 64-0 win over Jefferson Co. North. He also added 31 rushing yards and a score on five carries.
  1. Joel Broeckelman, RB, Mankato-Rock Hills – 61 points in Week 8 (Kuplen)
  • Brockelman carried 39 times for 240 yards and five touchdowns.  He also passed for 17 yards and a score.
  1. Kyler Alderson, QB, Wamego – 58 points in Week 3 (Gilmore)
  • Alderson completed 15 of 22 passes for 228 yards and five touchdowns in Wamego’s 55-9 win over Marysville. He also rushed for a touchdown in the game.
  1. Cain Fowles, QB, Solomon – 56 points in Week 7 (Schremmer)
  • Fowles passed for 222 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 46 yards and three touchdowns during Solomon's 44-8 win over Goessel.
  1. Jacob Head, QB, Topeka Hayden – 51 points in Week 7 (Baetz)
  • Head passed for 174 yards and three touchdowns and added 40 rushing yards and two scores in the Wildcats’ 51-21 win over Andover Central.
  1. Jake Tiernan, QB, Osborne – 50 points in Week 2 (Gilmore)
  • Tiernan completed 14 of 19 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 71 yards and two more scores as the Bulldogs beat Beloit St. John’s-Tipton 42-22.
  1. Riley England, RB, Osawatomie – 46 points in Week 5 (Kuplen)  &
  • England rushed 29 times for 283 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans shutout Anderson County, 48-0. England has rushed for 1,010 yards and 11 touchdowns this season and surpassed 3,000 yards for his career. The junior has 3,015 career rushing yards and 34 touchdowns.

 Colter Silhan, LB, Oxford – 46 points in Week 5 (Gilmore)

  • Silhan has a season-high 23 tackles in a 28-24 loss to Cedar Vale-Dexter on Friday night to push his total to 81 stops through five games. On offense, Colter rushed for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

 

Week Nine Picks to Click results (scoring):

Tyler Burns, RB, Wichita Trinity – Burns rushed 22 times for 169 yards and a touchdown and had three catches for 47 yards and another score in the Knights’ 24-21 loss to Clearwater. (Kuplen – 32 pts)

Bryan Dome, RB, Victoria – Dome rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in the Knights’ 50-0 win over Otis-Bison. (Nicholl – 16 pts)

Drake Hake, RB, Concordia – Hake rushed 21 times for 145 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ 37-6 win over Clay Center. (Baetz – 20 pts)

Alec McDaniel, QB, Argonia-Attica –McDaniel rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 41 yards and another score for the Titans. Argonia-Attica beat South Barber 54-8. (Gilmore – 45 pts)

Drew Mills, QB, Northeast-Arma – Mills completed 7 of 14 passes for 95 yards and rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ 24-21 win over Humboldt. (Schremmer – 25 pts)

Jake Seurer, DB, Olathe South – Seurer registered two tackles in and an interception in the Falcons’ 55-22 win over Gardner-Edgerton. (Clisso – 8 pts)


2014 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle

- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
