The Fan’s Choice for Kpreps Game of the Week was another showdown in Eight-Man, Division II, District 7. Victoria moved to 3-0 in that district with a 58-34 win over No. 3 Thunder Ridge.
The second-ranked Knights have now knocked off ranked teams in consecutive weeks in beating Beloit St. John’s-Tipton and Thunder Ridge.
Victoria led 24-8 in the first quarter before the Longhorns rallied to pull within 30-22 at halftime.
Thunder Ridge would then score to open the third quarter; closing the gap to 30-28.
That’s when Victoria’s Lane Kisner took over. Kisner scored two touchdowns in the third quarter in a matter of three minutes to push the Knights’ lead to 42-28.
Brady Dinkel then tacked on a touchdown run to extend Victoria’s lead to 50-28 late in the third quarter.
The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter with Dinkel connecting with Noah Dreiling on a second touchdown on the night.

A week after being upset by Shawnee Heights and falling form the 6A rankings, Topeka High rebounded with a 52-41 win over No. 5 Manhattan.
Manhattan build an early 14-0 lead behind two touchdown runs from Keadrian McDonald, but the Trojans scored the game’s next 24 points to take a 10-point lead into halftime.
Mike McCoy scored two of his four touchdowns during the Topeka barrage. Quarterback Alec Beatty added a 16-yard run, and Ruth Fiander ended the first half with a 31-yard field goal.
Manhattan’s Erik Prockish hit Gus Pease on a 51-yard touchdown pass to pull the Indians within 24-21. McCoy and Beatty would each answer with touchdown and push the Topeka lead to 38-21.
Manhattan got within 38-29 as McDonald fumbled going into the end zone, but Pease recovered for the Indian touchdown.
The two teams would trade two touchdowns a piece the rest of the way.
McCoy added his fourth touchdown to go along with 208 rushing yards. Beatty rushed for 134 yards and passed for 74 more. Prockish threw for 175 yards for Manhattan, while McDonald rushed for 116.

Blue Valley West slipped past No. 2 Pittsburg 14-12 to get a leg up in the tough 5A District 4. Pittsburg had the ball at the Jaguar 19-yard line with 13 seconds remaining and no timeouts. The Dragons tried to run a play to center the ball for the ensuing field goal attempt, but the clock ran out.
Pittsburg led 12-0 early on a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 16-yard touchdown run by Alex Barnes.
West got on the board early in the second quarter on a Nathan Wiles 14-yard touchdown pass to Luke Curtis on fourth-and-nine.
The Jags then scored with 31 seconds remaining in the first half on a 3-yard Wiles touchdown pass to Blaise Gammon to take a 14-12 lead.
Pittsburg’s Adrian Scroggins returned the second half kickoff deep into Blue Valley West territory and a 15-yard horse-collar penalty was tacked on to the end of the run. The Puprle Dragons could only gain three yards on the possession and missed a 36-yard field goal from the left hash.
Both teams had multiple scoring opportunities in their opponent’s territory in the second half, only to be turned away on downs.

The Class 4A, Division I game featuring No. 2 Hays and No. 4 Buhler turned out to be one-sided in favor of the defending champion Crusaders.
Buhler scored 28 consecutive points in the first half en route to a 55-21 pounding of the Indians.
After the two teams traded first-quarter touchdowns, Buhler scored four more times to take a 35-7 lead. Hays tacked on a touchdown before half on an Alex Delton touchdown pass to pull within 35-14.
But Hays had no answer for Buhler junior quarterback Jace Williams. The Crusaders once in the third quarter and twice in the fourth to lead 55-14 before Delton threw another touchdown pass.

On the other side of that district, McPherson handed Abilene its first loss of the season, 17-6.
The Bullpups build a 10-0 lead on a field goal and a Kyler Kinnamon 15-yard touchdown run.
Abilene would pull within 10-6 as Harley Hazlett tossed a touchdown pass to Zach Barberi. The Cowboys threatened before halftime, but were intercepted in the end zone.
McPherson finished the scoring on a 38-yard run by Kinnamon in the fourth quarter.

Wichita Northwest dismantled Dodge City 61-14 to make a statement as a contender on the west side of Class 6A.
The Grizzlies scored 20 first-quarter points and 34 in the second to build a commanding 54-7 halftime lead.
Keshaun McGaugh rushed for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback K’Vieon Richard added 62 yards and three more scores on the ground. Richard also passed for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Dodge City quarterback Caden Walters was held to just 16 of 38 passing for 109 yards and two interceptions.

Meade held off visiting Marion 39-36 in a non-district showdown between 2-1A teams.
The Buffaloes scored with 1:12 remaining in the game to take the 39-36 lead, and intercepted a Marion pass deep in Meade territory to seal the win.
Meade built a 27-14 lead in the second half before Marion’s Adam Janzen completed the Warrior rally with a 6-yard run to take a 28-27 lead.
Mead would score shortly after and lead 33-28, but Marion would again respond on a Jacob Baldwin touchdown pass with Mason Pederson for a 36-33 lead.
Meade’s final scoring drive took up more than 7 minutes and the Buffaloes converted a fourth down prior to the go-ahead score.

Denzel Goolsby rushed for 110 yards and five touchdowns as Bishop Carroll rolled past Maize, 69-7. Goolsby also returned a punt 60 yards for a score.
The Golden Eagle defense held Maize quarterback Connor Lungwitz to 15 of 28 passing for 91 yards.
Meanwhile, Carroll quarterback Colton Howell completed 9 of 14 attempts for 130 yards and rushed for 115 yards and two scores.

Bo Krueger scored a 9-yard touchdown run with 2:17 remaining to lift Olpe to a 36-28 win over Lyndon.
It was the Tigers first loss of the season.
The Eagles and Tigers alternated touchdowns in the first half. Olpe’s Andrew Burenheide went 71-yards on the Eagles’ first play to take a 6-0 lead.
Dawson Swinehart and Olpe’s Dylan Redeker then traded a pair of touchdown runs and Olpe went into the half leading 22-14.
Swinehart’s pass to Nick Ratzloff in the fourth quarter pulled Lyndon to within 22-20.
Redeker then scored his third touchdown of the night on a 50-yard run to give the Eagles a 28-20 lead.
Lyndon would answer and tie the game on a Swinehart’s third touchdown run and ensuing two-point conversion before Krueger won it late.
Swinehart rushed for 225 yards in the game, while Olpe’s trio of Burenheide, Krueger, and Redeker combined for more than 300 rushing yards.

Congratulations to Bucklin for stopping the state’s longest losing streak with a 56-6 win over Cunningham on Friday night.
The Red Aces ended a 54-game losing streak that dated back to September 26, 2008 when they defeated Greensburg, 34-28.
