The fans choice for Kpreps Game of the Week saw Tonganoxie shut out KC Piper, 28-0.
Tyler Ford threw touchdown passes to Wyatt Weeks and Ben Johnson on consecutive drives in the first quarter to put the Chieftains up 14-0.
Shane Levy added touchdown runs in the second and third quarters as Tonganoxie beat the Pirates for the first time since 2008.
Chieftain running back Cole Holloway rushed for 96 yards on the night on 20 carries. He now has amassed 452 rushing yards in the first three games.
The Tonganoxie defense was equally impressive, holding Piper to just over 150 yards of total offense.

Top-ranked Shawnee Mission West scored a touchdown with 13 seconds left to sqeak by Lawrence, 14-13.
Lawrence broke a 7-7 tie with a touchdown with 1:26 remaining in the game on a Nyle Anderson 62-yard run. The extra point was blocked by SM West’s Lee Spight.
Viking speedster Andre Maloney returned the ensuing kickoff into Lawrence territory, and then caught an 8-yard touchdown pass with 13 seconds left to keep the defending 6A champs undefeated.

The Derby Panthers sent a reminder that they are among the state’s best teams with a 62-13 thrashing of No. 5 Maize.
Quarterback Jeremy Dunham scored three touchdowns in the first quarter as the Panthers jumped out to a 28-0 lead and rolled from there on.
Derby recovered two fumbles and intercepted Maize quarterback Connor Lungwitz twice in the first half. Derby led the Eagles 49-6 at halftime.
The Panthers will travel to Salina Central in Week 4, while Maize will look to regroup against Goddard.

Speaking of Salina Central, the Mustangs won a shootout against St. Thomas Aquinas 42-40.
The Mustangs led 21-17 at halftime and extended the lead to 35-24 entering the fourth quarter.
Salina Central was stopped short on a fourth down in Aquinas territory in the fourth quarter, but led 35-27. The Saints quickly turned that stop points on a 73-yard touchdown play.
Aquinas appeared to tie the game at 35 on a 2-point conversion, but it was negated by penalty.
The second conversion attempt didn’t result in any points leaving Salina Central with a 35-33 lead with 4:30 remaining.
Mustang quarterback J.W. Maldaner scored later to give extend the lead to 42-33.
Aquinas would score again, but come up short, 42-40.
Central and Aquinas met in consecutive seasons as the Saints won last year, 35-14 in Salina.

In Class 5A, No. 5 Blue Valley won on the road at No. 4 Salina South, 35-28.
The Tigers and Cougars played to a 14-14 first half tie.
Blue Valley started the scoring in the second half with Chance Nelson’s second touchdown run of the night. The Tigers led 21-14 early in the third quarter, but Salina South would answer with an 80-yard touchdown drive to knot the game at 21.
Blue Valley quarterback Logan Brettel hit Mikey Henson on a 7-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 27-21 lead. The PAT was blocked.
Blue Valley would tack on another score to lead 35-21, and stop the Cougars on fourth down at the Tiger 4-yard line with 2:35 remaining to preserve the 14-point lead.
Justin Stonebraker hooked up with Zach Nachbar on a touchdown pass for the second time of the night, but it came with under 20 seconds remaining and Blue Valley recovered the onside kick.
The Tigers avenge a 28-7 loss to Salina South in Stilwell last season.

Wichita Heights blasted Dodge City 32-3 behind a strong defense and a solid ground game. The Falcons converted four first-half drives into touchdowns in taking a 26-0 lead into halftime.
Quarterback Trenton Autry rushed for a pair of touchdowns for Wichita Heights.
The Falcon defense, led by Aderio Ammons, pressured Dodge City quarterback Kelan Newton all evening and never allowed the Red Demon offense to get into a rhythm.

Victoria ended Ness City’s 15-game winning streak with a 42-14 win.
Sam Ottley scored the first three touchdowns of the game for Victoria as the Knights built a 28-14 lead. He added a score in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The Knights, ranked No. 5 in the Kpreps 8-Man, Division II poll, will look to stay unbeaten next week when they travel to take on Central Plains (3-0). The winner will be in the driver’s seat for the Central Prairie League title.

Alex Barnes carried 28 times for 231 yards and five touchdowns as Pittsburg topped rival Fort Scott 33-20.
The Purple Dragons and Tigers were tied at 14 in the fourth quarter when Barnes plunged in from three yards out on a fourth-and-2 play. The conversion attempt failed giving Pittsburg a 20-14 lead.
The Dragons Ethan Paul-Davis picked off a pass on Fort Scott’s next possession and returned it inside the Tiger 5-yard line. Barnes scored one-play later to give Pittsburg a 27-14 lead.
He would add his fifth score shortly after a Tiger fumble.

Rockhurst (Mo.) throttled Hutchinson 41-7 to win the annual showdown between Kansas-Missouri powers for the fifth time in six meetings.
The Hawklets dominated from the first play as A.J. Taylor returned the opening kickoff 60 yards to the Hutchinson 40-yard line. Rockhurst was in the end zone just three plays later and never looked back.
Jacob Hardenburger led the Salthawks with 118 yards rushing on 15 carries, including a 77-yard touchdown run with just over four minutes remaining.

Phillipsburg held off Oakley 14-6 on Friday night. Phillipsburg has beaten the Plainsmen in each of the last four seasons. Both teams came into this game not having allowed a point this season. Oakley entered ranked No. 2 in Class 2-1A.

Sacred Heart outscored Sedgwick 62-48 in a wild shoot out in Salina. The Knights beat the Cardinals for the second straight season.
Sacred Heart built a 42-21 halftime lead and never allowed the Cardinals to get closer than two scores.
Quarterback Nick Wuthnow had a huge night for Sacred Heart.
