(1) Manhattan 55, (8) Shawnee Mission West 39 – Top seed Manhattan pulled away from Shawnee Mission West for the 16-point, first-round win. Caroline Ballard led the Lady Indians with 14 points, while Darby Price added 10 points and seven rebounds. The Lady Vikings were led by Marleah Campbell who finished with 12 points. Manhattan outrebounded SM West 37-16.

(4) Maize 55, (5) Blue Valley North 45 – Brianna Johnson scored a game-high 22 points as Maize used a strong second half to beat Blue Valley North, 55-45. The Mustangs led Maize 26-21 at halftime before the Eagles responded with a 34-19 second half to advance. Daley Handy added 13 points and seven rebounds for Maize. Blue Valley North was paced by Micaela Delagarza and Bria Pierce who each scored 14.

(2) Wichita South 42, (7) Washburn Rural 37 – Wichita South built a 22-13 halftime lead and held on to defeat Washburn Rural 42-37. The Junior Blues used an 11-0 run in the second half to tie the game at 29 with under six minutes to go. The teams would trade baskets before Wichita South took the lead for good on a basket by Madison Northcutt. Ericka Mattingly led the Titans with 17 points, while Patriece Dodson chipped in 11. Courtney Winkley led Rural with 11, while Lauren Biggs and Paige Cunningham each added 9.

(3) Olathe South 59, (6) Shawnee Mission Northwest 57 – Olathe South outscored the Cougars 24-22 in the fourth quarter to provide the difference in a two-point win. The Falcons connected on 16 of 24 free throws in the second half to hold off Shawnee Mission Northwest. Kylee Kopatich led three Falcons in double figures with 16 points. Bailey Rinehart and Jordan Morton added 15 and 10 points, respectively. The Cougars were led by Brenni Rose’s 16 points, while Arielle Jackson and Tracy Monahan each added 12.

(1) Lansing 68, (8) St. Thomas Aquinas 57 – Undefeated and top-seed Lansing got a scare from No. 8 seed Aquinas, but held on for an 11-point win. The Saints led the Lions by as many as 10 before Joe Schneider took over in the second half. He scored 24 points in the game and Joe Lendway added 16 for the Lions.

(5) Wichita Heights 72, (4) Goddard-Eisenhower 56 – Wichita Heights ran past Eisenhower to advance to the final four in Class 5A. Semaj Hervey scored 28 points to lead the Falcons which improved to 19-4 with the win. Eisenhower struggled in shooting just 35 percent, including 2 of 16 from three point range, in suffering just its second loss of the season.

(2) Hays 48, (7) Salina Central 46 – After getting a buzzer-beater to win the Sub-State championship on Saturday, Salina Central’s upset bid came up just short in a two-point loss to Hays. The Mustangs led by six in the fourth quarter and by three with 1:36 remaining when Hays’ Jordan Windholz nailed a three to tie the game. Central decided to hold for the last shot, but Hays’ Lane Clark stole the ball and was fouled. Clark hit both free throws giving Hays the lead with 18 seconds left. This time, Central’s final three-point attempt bounded off the iron as the buzzer sounded. Windholz led unbeaten Hays with 16 points.
- (3) Topeka Highland Park 72, (6) KC Washington 47 – Highland Park outscored Washington 21-9 in the second quarter and 23-8 in the fourth to pull away for the first round win. Shaffee Carr scored 23 points and Jahmal McMurray scored 20 to lead the Scots.
4A-I GIRLS

(2) Bishop Miege 62, (7) McPherson 45 – Bishop Miege continued its strong history at the state tournament with a 17-point win over McPherson. The Stags were led by Madeline Homoly who scored 18 points, while Shelbe Piggie added 14 and Kelsey Wolf 12.

(6) Andover Central 58, (3) Paola 50 – Andover Central pulled off a 58-50 upset of third-seeded Paola. The Jaguars held a double-digit lead for much of the second half before the Lady Panthers made a final charge led by Tiana Moala who had 16 points and 18 rebounds. Andover Central scored 39 points in the second half and was led by Skyler Snodgrass who scored 16.

(1) Wamego 51, Mulvane 40 – Defending champion Wamego remained unbeaten with a 51-40 win over Mulvane in the first round of the 4A-I tournament. Lanie Page led the Red Raiders with 27 points, while Kaylee Page added 13.

(4) KC Piper 77, (5) Coffeyville 70 -- KC Piper built a big first-half lead then held off a furious rally by Coffeyville to win 77-70. The Lady Pirates were led by Haylee White who scored 22 points. Devin Cosper scored 26 to lead the Golden Tornado.
4A-II GIRLS

(1) Burlington 40, (8) Clay Center 34 – Burlington outscored Clay Center 28-16 in the second half to avoid a first-round upset. The Lady Wildcats got 12 points from Madison Stadel and eight points from Breanna Bluma who played despite injuring her knee in Saturday’s Sub-State championship game.

(4) Santa Fe Trail 46, (5) Pratt 34 – Santa Fe Trail rallied from a halftime deficit to top Pratt in the first round of the 4A-II tournament. The Chargers got hot behind the three-point arc in the second half and built a 32-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Chargers advance to take on top-seed Burlington in a rematch from the mid-season tournament back in January. Burlington won that earlier meeting, 41-39.

(2) Frontenac 55, (7) Wichita Trinity 46 – Frontenac used a dominating performance on the boards to outmuscle Trinity 55-46. The Lady Raiders collected 15 offensive rebounds in the game and Haley Wilson scored a team-high 13 points.

(6) Holton 53, (3) Hugoton 51 – Holton pulled away from Hugoton in the second half to advance to the semifinals of the 4A-II state tournament. Freshman Ashlyn Weilert led the Wildcats with 24 points after getting hot behind the arc. Katherine Hager, another freshman, led Hugoton with 27 points.

(2) Beloit 52, (7) Wellsville 46 – Beloit rallied from behind to knock out seventh seeded Wellsville, 52-46. Wellsville led 34-21 at halftime and 41-33 entering the fourth quarter. The Trojans outscored the Eagles 19-5 in the final quarter to pull out the win. Sophomore Bailey Vetter led Beloit with 17 points

(3) Nemaha Valley 76, (6) Holcomb 66 – Nemaha Valley built a 30-18 halftime lead and held off a second-half Holcomb rally to win 76-66. Holcomb closed to within 50-47 in the third quarter, but could never get closer. Caleb Meyer led Nemaha Valley with 31 points, including 17 of 20 from the free throw line. The Raiders won their first-round state tournament game for the seventh consecutive season.

(1) Hesston 61, (8) Wichita Collegiate 53 – After trailing 10-6 after one quarter, top-seeded Hesston outscored Wichita Collegiate 21-11 in the second quarter en route to an eight-point victory. Tyler McCartney was one of three Swathers in double figures and finished with 15 points.
- (4) Riverton 58, (5) Rock Creek 50 – Riverton outscored Rock Creek 21-11 in the final quarter to break open a tight game that featured eight ties and ten lead changes. Landon North led the Rams with 18 points, while his cousin Grant North added 14.
2A GIRLS

(1) Central Plains 47, (8) St. Mary’s Colgan 38 – The top-seeded Oilers held off Colgan to remain unbeaten. Central Plains (24-0) opened up an 8-0 lead to begin the game and expanded that lead to 25-15 at halftime. Colgan responded and got as close as four points early in the fourth quarter before the Oilers pulled away. Sophomore Reagan Phalen led Central Plains with 20 points, while junior Alex Minton led Colgan (14-10) with 15.

(5) Meade 61, (4) Olpe 49 – Meade rushed out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back in knocking off Olpe. The Buffaloes led 22-10 after the first quarter and 37-28 at halftime. Bailey Olvera led Meade with 22 points, while Jaylin Stapleton added 12. Elena Flott, the Pittsburg State commit, led Olpe with 18 points.

(2) Jefferson Co. North 53, (7) Hillsboro 50 – In what felt like a state title bout, Jefferson Co. North hit enough free throws in the final minutes to edge Hillsboro 53-50. Hillsboro used a strong first half performance on the boards to build a 27-22 lead. The teams traded leads in the fourth quarter until JCN’s Jacee Kramer hit a pair of free throws with 1:11 left to put the Chargers up 48-47. Hillsboro would miss the front end of a 1-and-1 on the next possession, while North’s Jamie Navinskey hit both ends of her ensuing 1-and-1 to push the Chargers lead to 50-47. After a missed three-point from Hillsboro, Kramer again connected on two charities to extend the lead to 52-47 before a late Trojan three pulled closer. Kramer led the Chargers with 22 points, while fellow Emporia State commit Addie Lackey led Hillsboro with 26. Navinskey and Mallory Kramer added 15 and 10 points, respectively for Jefferson Co. North.

(3) Washington County 64, (6) Ellis 44 – Washington County used a big first-half run to turn an early deficit into a 12-point halftime lead. The Lady Tigers then outscored the Railers 28-20 in the second half in cruising to the first round win. Freshman Annie Otott led Washington County with 19 points.
1A-I BOYS

(1) Marais des Cygnes Valley 54, (8) Clifton-Clyde 45 – After trailing 12-11 after the first quarter, Marais des Cygnes Valley outscored Clifton-Clyde 27-15 in the middle quarters to take control. The Trojans led by as many as 17 in the fourth quarter before Clifton-Clyde would eventually narrow the gap. Mark Price scored 15 and Matt Jones added 14 to lead four Trojans in double figures.

(5) Spearville 69, (4) Caldwell 34 – Spearville raced out to a 42-14 lead at halftime in routing Caldwell, 69-34. Kaden Stein led the Royal Lancers with 16 points, while Nathan Stein added 12. Caldwell struggled from the perimeter going 0-for-15. Spearville advances into the semifinals to take on top-seeded MdCV.

(2) Hoxie 71, Hartford 43 – Hoxie built a 31-21 halftime lead en route to a dominating 71-43 win over Hartford. Three Indians finished in double figures, led by Colton Spresser with 20. Connor Katt and Chase Kennedy added 16 and 14 points, respectively. Lane Ikerd led Hartford with 18 points.
- (3) Valley Heights 67, (6) Macksville 51 – Valley Heights used a strong defensive effort to build a 33-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter. That’s when the offense took over as the two Mustang teams combined for 61 points in the final quarter. Valley Heights outscored Macksville 34-27 in the final quarter to win by 17. Bennett Bargdill led Heights with 19 points, while Macksville’s Tanner Tranbarger scored a game-high 26.
1A-II BOYS

(1) Beloit St. John’s-Tipton 64, (8) Northern Valley 39 – St. John’s-Tipton opened up a 35-17 halftime lead en route to a 25-point win over Northern Valley. Four Blujays finished in double figures led by Caleb Brummer and Luke Eilert who each scored 15.

(4) Chetopa 65, (5) Attica 49 – Chetopa used a big second half to knock off Attica 65-49 in their first state tournament appearance in more than 50 years. Brice Riddle led three Green Hornets in double figures with 20 points and Austen Sanders added 17 as Chetopa picked up its 20th win of the season.

(2) Sharon Springs-Wallace County 69, Central Christian 46 – Wallace County built a 31-29 lead at halftime, then outscored Central Christian 22-4 in the third quarter to blow open the game. Nate Klinge led the Wildcats with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Central Christian became turnover plagued in the second half which allowed the Wildcats to pull away.
- (6) Baileyville B&B 59, (3) Fowler 44 -- Baileyville B&B continued their storybook athletic season in the school’s final year with a 15-point opening-round win over Fowler. The Falcons led 25-15 at halftime and held serve in the second half to move on. Dustin Rottinghaus led B&B with 15 points, while Luke Holthaus and Blake Deters added 16 and 11 points, respectively. The Falcons advance to take on Sharon Springs-Wallace County; the same school they defeated for the state football championship last fall.
