Kpreps.com and Kansas-Sports are proud to partner with the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) to release the KBCA preseason rankings for the 2013-14 high school basketball season.
 
Basketball coaches around the state are encouraged to visit the KBCA's website, http://www.kansaskbca.com, to register as a 2013 member and participate throughout the season.
 
KBCA Girls Basketball Rankings
 
Wichita South, St. Thomas Aquinas, Wamego, Santa Fe Trail, Hesston, Hillsboro, Hoxie, and Ingalls claim the top spot in their respective classes in the initial 2013-14 girls basketball rankings.
 
In Class 6A, defending champion Wichita South looks to repeat and make it a fourth consecutive title for the Wichita City League. The Titans won their first title since 1978 knocking off Wichita Heights in last year's 6A championship.

Those same Wichita Heights Falcons move down a class this season and are ranked second behind defending 5A champion St. Thomas Aquinas. Heights finished 18-7 a year ago, and had won 6A titles in 2012 and 2011. The Aquinas girls have won Class 5A titles in two of the past three seasons.

Class 4A will break into two divisions this season and defending 4A champion Wamego headlines 4A Division I. The Lady Raiders captured their first ever state title last season with a 60-53 win over McPherson. McPherson is ranked fourth in the preseason 4A-I poll.

Santa Fe Trail claims the top spot in Class 4A Division II, one spot ahead of defending 3A champion Burlington which  moves up a classification for the 2013-14 season. This leaves no defending champion in Class 3A as Hesston is the KBCA's preseason favorite.

In Class 2A, Hillsboro takes the top spot ahead of defending champion Smith Center. The Trojans fell to Burlington in last year's 3A semifinals before defeating Russell in the 3rd place game and is expected to be a favorite in 2A after moving down a classification.

The Hoxie girls carry a 48-game winning streak into the new season and will try to achieve a three-peat in Class 1A Division I. The Indians are the top team in 1A-I ahead of Spearville, Caldwell, and Valley Heights who round out the top five.

In Class 1A Division II, defending champion Ingalls in the KBCA's preseason favorite. Ingalls defeated No. 4 Norwich in last year's championship game to cap off a perfect 26-0 season.
