In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.
This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week. We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Gus Ketteler, RB, Shawnee Mission East (Clisso)
Ketteler (6-1, 195) has stepped into a much bigger role for the Lancers this season. After rushing for 315 yards last season, Ketteler has already surpassed that total having amassed 345 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in the first three weeks. More than anything, Ketteler wants to get Shawnee Mission East back in the win column after consecutive losses to Rockhurst (34-0) and Lawrence (35-34). In last week’s loss to Lawrence, Ketteler rushed for 139 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 54 receiving yards on a couple of catches. Ketteler and the Lancers will need a good performance this week as they take on rival Shawnee Mission South.
Cale Ketter, QB, Topeka Seaman (Maycock)
The state's leading passer this season, Ketter has already thrown for 1,052 yards, completing 61.8 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns. In last week's 62-7 rout of rival Shawnee Heights, Ketter completed 18 of 25 passes — his lowest amount of attempts this season — for 387 yards and 3 TDs. Ketter threw for a career-high 465 yards and 5 TDs in a season-opening loss to De Soto. Last year against Lansing, this week's opponent, Ketter threw for 226 yards and 4 TDs in a 48-8 Seaman win.
Cooper Ohnmacht, Ath, Great Bend (Nicholl)
Great Bend is at Buhler in a critical 4A west contest. Ohnmacht is the top recruit in Kansas and has committed to Kansas State. The all-purpose threat has enjoyed a nice season on both sides of the ball. He ranks second for the Panthers (3-0) with 21 tackles and one interception. Ohnmacht will likely have to play a key role for Great Bend to be successful this week.
Sterling Offensive Line (Gilmore)
The defending champs look every bit the part of 1A favorite in a dominant showing against Inman last week. The top-ranked Black Bears handled the Teutons, 35-13, behind a stout defense and a sound rushing attack. Sterling is led up front by seniors Maddox Link (5-10, 245), Cody Schweizer (6-5, 260), Derek Krone (6-2, 165), Cameron Morris (6-2, 185), Cody Hook (5-10, 180), and Tucker Haas (6-0, 176) as well as junior Eckley Eckert. The Black Bears are averaging 368 yards per game on the ground and 411 yards of total offense. Sterling will be heavily favored at winless Sedgwick tonight. The Cardinals have surrendered 49.7 points per game.

Cam’Ron Fields, WR, KC Washington – Fields caught six passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats routed Wyandotte, 78-6. (Gilmore – 33 pts)
Alvin Riley, RB, KC Washington – Riley rushed for 27 yards and had 20 receiving yards with a touchdown as Washington blasted Wyandotte, 78-6. (Clisso – 10 pts)
Smith Center Offensive Line – The Redmen OL paved the way for 418 rushing yards and 46 passing yards with six offensive touchdowns in a 44-22 win over Norton. (Nicholl – 27 pts)
Karsyn Wright, Ath, Weskan – Weskan got off to a fast start and that limited Wright's touches as the Coyotes rolled to a 62-14 win by halftime. Wright had only six carries in the game but took four of them in for touchdowns and finished with 128 yards rushing. He also threw for 30 yards on his only pass completion and returned an interception for a touchdown as well. (Maycock – 39 pts)

2026 Picks to Click
- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.
- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.
- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.
- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.
Scoring system
QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs
- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver
- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown
Offensive line
- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense
- 3 points for every offensive touchdown
Defensive player
- 2 points for every tackle
- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
