The SureFire Picks to Click were powered by SureFire Ag Systems throughout the 2015 season.  With our SureFire Picks to Click feature, we select six players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of six media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

Top ten weekly performances for SureFire Picks to Click this season:

  1. Will Bruna, QB, Hanover – 69 points in Week 6 (Gilmore)

    Bruna completed 11 of 13 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 58-12 win over Lincoln. Bruna also added 44 yards rushing and three touchdowns on five carries.
  1. Tucker Horak, QB, Rossville – 68 points in Week 1 (Gilmore)

    Horak had a big night on offense to lead the Bulldawgs to a 48-13 win over Clay Center. Horak carried 15 times for 248 yards and three touchdowns.  He also completed 10 of 14 passes for 147 yards and two more touchdowns with one interception.
  1. Hayden Friend, QB, Plainville – 65 points in Week 7 (Nicholl)

    Friend rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns and completed 6 of 7 passes for 165 yards and two more scores in the Cardinals’ 66-21 win over Leoti-Wichita County.
     
  2. Dalton Peters, RB, Salina Central – 56 points in Week 4 (Schremmer)

    The workhorse Peters carried 31 times for 206 yards and six touchdowns in the Mustangs’ 42-25 win over Goddard-Eisenhower.
     
  3. Connor Byers, QB, Bonner Springs – 54 points in Week 1 (Clisso)

    Byers led Bonner Springs to a 28-14 win over Eudora. The senior quarterback completed 17 of 31 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 122 yards and two more scores for the Braves.
     
  4. Logan Koch, QB, Mill Valley – 52 points in Week 7 (Clisso) &

    Koch completed 20 of 26 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns as the Jaguars beat then No. 5 St. James Academy, 45-14. Koch also rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries in the game.

    Caden Walters, QB, Dodge City – 52 points in Week 6 (Kuplen)

    Walters completed 14 of 24 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns for the Red Demons in their 37-3 win over Hays.
     
  5. Ian Rudzik, RB, Ulysses – 50 points in Week 1 (Baetz) &

    Rudzik had another big night as the Tigers beat Liberal 38-19. Rudzik rushed for 267 yards and four touchdowns for Ulysses.   

    Kade Urban, QB, Otis-Bison – 50 points in Week 3 (Nicholl)

    Urban rushed for 111 yards and six touchdowns as the Cougars bested Ness City, 58-20. He also passed for 35 yards in the Otis-Bison win.
     
  6. Korie Frausto, QB, Maize South – 49 points in Week 7 (Baetz)

    Frausto rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries as the Mavericks beat Valley Center, 35-16. Korie also completed 8 of 14 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown pass to Jordan Maxson.
     
  7. Zack Melius, RB, Wakefield – 48 points in Week 9 (Baetz)  &

    Melius rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns in the Bombers’ 48-0 win over Stockton. Injuries limited Melius to only five games and one play this season, but he still rushed for 1,276 yards and 24 touchdowns on just 80 carries.

    Zac Walter, QB, Lincoln – 48 points in Week 2 (Gilmore)

    Walter completed five of seven passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the Leopards’ 50-12 win over Sylvan-Lucas Unified.  He also rushed eight times for 119 yards and another score.
     
  8. Grant Elston, QB, Eudora – 45 points in Week 9 (Kuplen)

    Elston carried 15 times for 102 yards and four touchdowns in the Cardinals 45-18 win over Baldwin. The senior quarterback also passed for 53 yards and another score.

 

Week 9 Picks to Click results (scoring):

Logan Dean, QB, Labette County – Dean completed just 3 of 11 passes for 56 yards in the Grizzlies 32-20 loss to Chanute. Dean threw a touchdown pass to Klein Ryan, but was also intercepted four times. (Schremmer – 11 pts)

Joe Dortland, QB, Victoria – Dortland rushed for 77 yards and a touchdowns and passed for 106 yards and two scores in the Knights’ 68-22 win over Otis-Bison. (Nicholl – 35 pts)

Wyatt Edmisten, RB, Shawnee Mission East – Edmisten rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in the Lancers’ 56-34 win over Shawnee Mission North. (Clisso –26 pts)

Grant Elston, QB, Eudora – Elston carried 15 times for 102 yards and four touchdowns in the Cardinals 45-18 win over Baldwin. The senior quarterback also passed for 53 yards and another score. (Kuplen – 45 pts)

2015 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle, TFL, sack

- 4 points for every INT or fumble recovery
