Name: Jared Hobby
High School: Gardner-Edgerton High School
Position in high school: QB
Height: 6’0
Weight: 200
College you plan to attend: William Jewell College
Scholarship / Walk-on: Scholarship
Planned position in college: QB
Other colleges recruited you or showed interest: Benedictine College, Emporia State, Washburn University, Fort Hays State University, Hutchison Community College and Fort Scott Community College
Why you chose the college you plan to attend: I chose to go to William Jewell College because the campus was beautiful and everyone there made me feel like I belonged there. They are and excellent academic institution and a growing football family that I am looking forward to being a part of and contributing to.
Were you recruited to play other sports at the collegiate level: No
Notes / stats from high school career: I was a 3 year starter and 2 year captain. I am the all-time leading passer in passing yards (4,235 yds) and TD passes (39). I won the HY-Vee Athlete of the Week after the Olathe North game, 610 Sports scholar athlete and EKL scholar athlete. I am also a member of the National Honors Society.
Favorite high school football memory: My favorite high school football memory is Senior Night against Olathe North game because it went down to the wire. We won on a 70 yd touchdown pass from myself to Jaylon Radel with under 1:30 left in the game. I finished the game with 329 passing yards and 4 touchdown passes, going on to earn Hy-Vee athlete of the Week.
Kpreps comment: Casual fans may think a Marvin Diener-led Trailblazer team would be only run oriented, but Hobby helped develop Gardner-Edgerton into a more diverse offense. He became a dangerous compliment to Traevohn Wrench in the backfield. Hobby passed for more than 4,000 yards in his career and nearly 40 touchdown passes. He’ll should fit in well into what’s turning out to be a nice recruiting class for William Jewell.

Editor's Note: It is important to remember that all college commitments are verbal and not truly finalized until the student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent on February 5th.
