In our 2017 Picks to Click feature, we selected eight players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of eight media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top ten weekly performances for Picks to Click this season:

1.      Brody Flaming, QB, Mill Valley – 90 points in Week 3 (Clisso)

Flaming had a huge game in the Jaguars 51-26 win over Blue Valley Southwest. The senior quarterback passed for 410 yards, six touchdowns, and added 72 yards rushing and another score.

2.      Gabriel Salas, RB, Satanta – 85 points in Week 8 (Baetz)

Salas had a huge night in the Indians 80-50 loss to Ness City. Salas rushed for 392 yards and five touchdowns, and caught four passes for 100 yards and another score.

3.      Ivan Webb, RB, KC Schlagle – 79 points in Week 4 (Maycock)

Webb may have earned the performance of the year with a 378-yard, seven-touchdown night in the Stallions’ 56-8 win over KC Washington.

4.      Sam Hardin, QB, Wichita Trinity – 73 points in Week 6 (Kuplen)

Hardin had a huge night in the Kights’ 63-32 win over Belle Plaine. The senior quarterback passed for 195 yards and six touchdowns, and added 122 rush yards and another score.

5.      Will Eldridge, QB, Blue Valley Southwest – 68 points in Week 5 (Schremmer)

Eldridge completed 30 of 40 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-27 win over Blue Valley Northwest last week. He also rushed for 42 yards and two scores.
 

6.      Tucker Kimball, QB, Osage City – 62 points in Week 9 (Schremmer)

Kimball rushed for 199 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 73 yards and two more scores in the Indians’ 50-6 win over West Franklin.

 

7.      Hunter White, QB, Southeast of Saline – 61 points in Week 9 (Gilmore)

White rushed for 166 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Trojan’s 52-0 win over Hillsboro. White also passed for 94 yards and another score.  

 

8.      Nate Heneha, QB, Hutch Central Christian – 59 points in Week 1 (Maycock)
 

Heneha completed all 15 of his pass attempts for 175 yards and three touchdowns in the Cougars’ 90-38 win over Pretty Prairie. The senior quarterback also rushed for 153 yards and two more scores as Central Christian put up 637 yards of total offense.
 

9.      Cade Miller, QB, West Elk – 57 points in Week 6 (Gilmore)


Miller accounted for all five Patriot touchdowns in their 36-22 win at St. Paul. Miller rushed for 203 yards and three scores on 37 carries, and passed for 75 yards and two more scores.
 

10.  Conway Springs Offensive Line – 56 points in Week 1 (Eldridge)

The Cardinal offensive line paved the way for 729 total yards and 14 offensive touchdowns in a 98-18 rout of Belle Plaine. All but 65 of Conway’s yards came on the ground.

Zach Dressler, RB, Douglass – Dressler rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and caught a 27-yard pass in the Bulldogs’ 32-14 win over Leon-Bluestem. (Eldridge –15 pts)

Trenton Flentie, QB, Centralia – Flentie rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown and passed for 43 yards and another score in the Panthers’ 32-14 win over Jackson Heights. (Nicholl – 21 pts)

Daniel Jackson, WR, Bishop Miege – Jackson caught four passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns in the Stags’ 62-14 victory over Spring Hill. (Clisso – 21 pts)

Tucker Kimball, QB, Osage City – Kimball rushed for 199 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 73 yards and two more scores in the Indians’ 50-6 win over West Franklin. (Schremmer – 62 pts)

Tanner Martin, QB, Onaga – Marten rushed for 149 yards and five touchdowns and completed his only pass for a 15-yard score in Onaga’s 60-6 win over Valley Falls. (Maycock – 51 pts)

Tyler Trudo, QB, Goddard-Eisenhower – Trudo rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown and passed for 71 more yards in the Tigers’ 35-28 win over Great Bend. (Kuplen – 18 pts)

Corbin Wheeler, RB, Marion – Wheeler carried 10 times for 44 yards in the Warriors’ 45-24 loss to Hesston to close out the regular season. (Baetz -- 4 pts)

Hunter White, QB, Southeast of Saline – White rushed for 166 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Trojan’s 52-0 win over Hillsboro. White also passed for 94 yards and another score. (Gilmore –61 pts)


2017 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle, TFL, sack

- 4 points for every INT or fumble recovery
