Picks to Click -- Final Fantasy Standings

In our Picks to Click feature, we select six players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of six media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top ten weekly performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Joel Green, LB, Stockton – 80 points in Week 6 (Schremmer)

    Green was credited with 10 solo tackles and 26 assists, an interception, and a fumble recovery in the Tigers’ 54-48 win over Thunder Ridge.
     
  2. Dalton Sporing, QB, Burlingame – 74 points in Week 2 (Kuplen)

    Sporing passed for 179 yards and two touchdowns and added 156 rushing yards and five more scores in the Bearcats 62-12 romp over Hartford.
     
  3. Caden Kinderknecht, QB, Northern Valley – 72 points in Week 9 (Schremmer)

Kinderknecht completed 11 of 19 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 220 yards and three more scores in the Huskies’ 56-40 win over Thunder Ridge.

  1. Valentino Degollado, QB, Hugoton – 71 points in Week 8 (Schremmer)

The senior quarterback completed 19 of 29 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns during a 42-17 win over Kingman. Degollado also rushed for 105 yards and two more touchdowns.

Brody Flaming, QB, Mill Valley – 71 points in Week 2 (Schremmer)

Flaming passed for 431 yards and three touchdowns during a 38-19 win over Blue Valley Northwest. He also rushed for 108 yards on 17 carries. Flaming, who took over for graduated All-State quarterback Logan Koch, already has 742 passing yards and eight touchdowns after two games.

Jacob Murray, QB, Great Bend – 71 points in Week 1 (Gilmore)

Murray had a fantastic season debut in the Panthers’ 57-13 win over Coffeyville. The senior completed 16 of 20 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns.  He also rushed eight times for 124 yards and three more scores.

  1. Tyler Lingg, QB, Dighton – 70 points in Week 7 (Nicholl)

Lingg completed 23 of 33 passes for 395 yards and four touchdowns and added 17 rushing yards and a score in the Hornets’ 36-30 win over Otis-Bison.

6.     Cornelius Ruff, RB, KC Schlagle – 62 points in Week 5 (Clisso)

Ruff rushed for 266 yards and six touchdowns in the Stallions 52-18 victory over KC Wyandotte.

7.      Isaiah McPherson, RB, Labette County – 61 points in Week 4 (Kuplen)

McPherson rushed for 184 yards and scored all seven Grizzly touchdowns in Labette’s 42-21 win over rival Parsons. McPherson rushed for six scores and caught an 11-yard TD pass from Logan Dean.  

8.      Will Schneider, QB, SM North – 58 points in Week 7 (Schremmer)

The senior quarterback led the Indians to a 61-38 win over Shawnee Mission Northwest. Schneider completed 17 of 24 passes for 252 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown.

9.      Matt Dercher, QB, Blue Valley – 51 points in Week 2 (Clisso)  &

Dercher completed 19 of 28 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 49-7 win over Blue Valley West. He also rushed for a touchdown although he finished with minus-5 rush yards.

Zach Witters, QB, SM West – 51 points in Week 6 (Clisso)

Witters completed 13 of 17 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings 47-32 win over Olathe North. Witters also rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

10.  Austin Anderson, QB, Wichita Northwest – 50 points in Week 2 (Gilmore)

Anderson completed 13 of 27 passes for 269 yards and four touchdowns in the Grizzlies 53-33 loss to Wichita Heights.

Davis Dubbert, QB, Beloit St. John’s-Tipton – 50 points in Week 3 (Baetz)

Dubbert passed for 171 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 34 more yards and a score in BSJT’s 50-22 win over Bennington.


Week Nine Picks to Click results (scoring):

Quinton Cravens, QB,  St. Francis – Cravens completed 7 of 8 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians 54-0 win over WaKeeney-Trego back in Week 9.  Cravens also carried twice for six yards in the game. (Gilmore – 31 pts)

Hayden Friend, QB, Plainville – Friend rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown and completed two of eight passes for 64 yards and another score in the Cardinals’ 46-12 win over La Crosse. (Kuplen – 24 pts)

Dawson Johnson, QB, Lakeside-Downs – Johnson passed for 93 yards and a touchdown in the Knights’ 66-20 loss to Stockton. (Nicholl –15 pts)

Caden Kinderknecht, QB, Northern Valley – Kinderknecht completed 11 of 19 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 220 yards and three more scores in the Huskies’ 56-40 win over Thunder Ridge. (Schremmer – 72 pts)

Clay Phillips, QB, Mission Valley – Phillips rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 117 more yards and a score in the Vikings’ 45-28 loss to St. Marys. (Baetz – 49 pts)

Harrison Van Dyne, WR, Blue Valley – Van Dyne had three catches for 111 yards and a touchdown in Blue Valley’s 54-0 win over Shawnee Mission South in Week 9. (Clisso –17 pts)


2016 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle, TFL, sack

- 4 points for every INT or fumble recovery
