Pitt State Football Announces Class of 2014
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State University head football coach Tim Beck has announced that 26 high
school seniors have signed letters of intent to join the Gorillas for the 2014 football season. Additionally, one
transfer has signed a grant-in-aid (scholarship) agreement and will join the Pitt State football team at the start
of the Fall 2014 semester.
Here’s a complete breakdown of Pittsburg State’s 2014 recruiting class:
RYAN CARTER, 5-10, 195, FR, LB
Hometown: Westwood, Kan.
High School: Shawnee Mission East
H.S. Coach: Dustin Delaney
Honors/Stats: An honorable mention Kansas Class 6A All-State selection at linebacker as a senior at Shawnee Mission East High School in 2013… posted 175 tackles for the Lancers… helped East to a 10-2 record and the Class 6A state runner-up finish… a two-year starter for the Lancers.
Personal: Born December 27, 1995… son of Paul and Tammy Carter.

DREW DAWSON, 6-1, 185, FR, RB
Hometown: Pittsburg, Kan.
High School: St. Mary’s-Colgan
H.S. Coach: Chuck Smith
Honors/Stats: An honorable mention Kansas Class 2A All-State selection as a senior at St. Mary’s-Colgan High School in 2013… also a two-time All-CNC League performer (2012-13)… helped the Panthers to a 17-7 record and a pair of regional titles his final two prep seasons… rushed for a combined 1,100 yards and 21 touchdowns and made 132 tackles with seven interceptions in 2012-13.
Personal: Born August 18, 1995… son of Darren and Bridhid Dawson.

CONNER DICKEY, 6-2, 240, FR, LB
Hometown: Grove, Okla.
High School: Grove
H.S. Coach: Dennis Millican
Honors/Stats: An Oklahoma Class 5A All-District selection at linebacker as a senior at Grove High School in 2013… also an All-League the Ridgerunners… earned All-League honors at Chaparral (Kan.) High in 2011-12… averaged 100 tackles per season from 2010-12… battled a leg injury his senior season, finishing the year with 79 stops.

Honors/Stats: A second-team Missouri Class 6A All-State selection at running back as a senior at Lee’s Summit West High School in 2013… carried the ball 122 times for 1,222 yards and 20 touchdowns… helped the Titans to a 13-1 record and the Class 6A state title… also a national caliber AAU decathlete.
Personal: Born July 8, 1996… son of Darron, Sr., and Michelle Edwards.

TANNER EIKENBARY, 6-1, 190, FR, QB
Hometown: Kansas City, Kan.

Honors/Stats: A two-time honorable mention Kansas Class 4A All-State selection at Piper High School (2012-13)… a three year All-League performer (2011-13)… passed for 1,398 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 358 yards and four scores as a senior for the Pirates… helped PHS to a 10-3 record, including a sectional title… compiled 4,187 career passing yards with 46 touchdowns and 413 rushing yards with six scores.

Honors/Stats: A first-team Oklahoma Class 6A All-State performer as a senior in 2013… also the District Defensive Player of the Year… made 181 tackles his senior season, helping the Redskins to an 11-3 record… ended his decorated career with 404 stops, setting school records for most tackles in a game (23) and most tackles in a season (181)… helped Union to back-to-back 6A state titles in 2010-11.

Honors/Stats: A two-time first-team Missouri Class 3A All-State selection at linebacker at Oak Grove High School (2012-13)… recorded 101 tackles (71 solo) with five tackles-for-loss his senior year… also rushed the ball for 1,334 yards and 20 touchdowns… helped the Panthers post a 22-3 combined record his final two prep seasons…

Honors/Stats: An honorable mention Kansas Eight Man All-State selection at defensive line as a senior at Rawlins County High School in 2013… recorded 92 tackles with 18.0 tackles-for-loss and five forced fumbles… also caught three passes for 31 yards at tight end… a three-year starter for the Buffaloes.
