Picks to Click -- Final Fantasy Standings

In our 2022 Picks to Click feature, we selected several players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top ten weekly performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Jesse Greenly, RB, Atchison – 87 points in Week 6 (Maycock)

    Safe to say, Greenly loves playing Highland Park. In 2021, Greenly had a season-best game against the Scots, rushing for 254 yards and 6 TDs. In We, Greenly Week 6 this season, he was even better. Despite not busting a touchdown run of more than 16 yards, Greenly torched the Scots for a career-high 335 yards and 9 TDs.
  1. Isaac Detweiler, QB, Axtell – 84 points in Week 1 (Gilmore)

    Detweiler was huge in Axtell’s 82-38 victory over Cair Paravel. The senior quarterback completed 12 of 18 passes for 169 yards and four touchdowns and added 205 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries.
  1. Mitch Budke, QB, Chase County – 79 points in Week 2 (Maycock)

     In Chase County’s 70-54 win over Colony-Crest, Budke passed for 201 yards and three touchdownsand and added 238 rushing yards and three more scores.  

  1. Ryan Kuckelman, QB, Macksville – 70 points in Week 7 (Boston)

    Kuckelman passed for 197 yards and five touchdowns and added 95 yards rushing and two scores as the Mustangs blasted Pratt-Skyline, 50-0.

  1. Tre Richardson, RB, Topeka Highland Park – 66 points in Week 3 (Kuplen)

    Richardson carried 17 times for 240 yards and four touchdowns and caught four passes for 65 yards and two scores in the Scots’ 63-36 win over KC Sumner Academy.

  1. Donald Collier, WR, Wichita Trinity – 65 points in Week 8 (Gilmore)

    Collier had 14 receptions for 303 yards and five touchdowns in the Knights’ 41-36 win over Baxter Springs in Week 8. Collier also rushed for 51 yards in the game. Collier finished the season with a new state record 103 receptions for 1,710 yards and 25 touchdowns.
 

  1. Aiden Hoopes, QB, Burrton – 64 points in Week 8 (Maycock)

    In a 41-40 win over Altoona-Midway back in Week 8, Hoopes rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 91 yards and two scores, and had 78 receiving yards and two scores.
 

  1. Eddie McLaughlin, QB, Leavenworth – 62 points in Week 3 (Clisso)

    McLaughlin rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns and added 176 passing yards and two scores but the Pioneers fell 34-26 to Lansing.
  1. Avery Johnson, QB, Maize – 60 points in Week 2 (Kuplen)

    Johnson passed for 358 yards and two touchdowns and added 79 rushing yards and a score in the Eagles’ 42-14 win over Andover Central.
  1. Colby Middleton, QB, Burlingame – 57 points in Week 1 (Kuplen)

    Middleton passed for 128 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for 29 yards and two scores, and caught a 17-yard touchdown pass as the Bearcats shut out Marais des Cygnes Valley, 46-0.

 

Week 8 Picks to Click results (scoring):

Malik Bah, RB, Hays – Bah carried only four times but totaled 145 yards and two touchdowns in the Indians’ 56-6 win over Topeka High back in Week 8. (Boston – 26 pts)

Blake Boydston, QB, St. James Academy – Boydston passed for 218 yards and two touchdowns and added 81 yards rushing, but the Thunder fell 25-20 to Blue Valley North back in Week 8. (Clisso – 41 pts)

Malik O’Atis, RB, Shawnee Mission Northwest – O’Atis rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns and added two catches for 10 yards but the Cougars were edged 34-33 to Olathe East back in Week 8. (Kuplen – 40 pts)

Logan Russell, QB, Ellis – Russell passed for 54 yards and rushed for two touchdowns on just three carries in Ellis’ 50-0 win over Syracuse back in Week 8. (Nicholl – 17 pts)


2022 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle

- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
