Picks to Click -- Final Fantasy Standings

In our 2021 Picks to Click feature, we selected several players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top ten weekly performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Logan McCarty, QB, Cheylin – 84 points in Week 1 (Nicholl)

    McCarty passed for 190 yards and three touchdowns and added 171 yards and five scores on the ground in the Cougars’ 67-12 win over Golden Plains.
  1. Henry Martin, QB, Blue Valley North – 77 points in Week 2 (Gilmore)

    Martin completed 24 of 34 passes for 409 yards and six touchdowns in the Mustangs 42-21 win over Blue Valley West. Martin also rushed for 17 yards on five attempts.
  1. Lance Hoffsommer, QB, Sedgwick – 73 points in Week 1 (Kuplen)

Hoffsommer passed for 301 yards and 4 touchdowns and rushed for 135 yards and a score in Sedgwick’s 61-8 win over Sterling   

Brec Long, QB, Sedan – 73 points in Week 3 (Gilmore)

Long completed 6 of his 10 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 58-8 win over Central Burden. Long also rushed five times for 102 yards and four touchdowns on the night as Sedan improved to 3-0.

  1. Kayden Martinez, RB, Natoma – 68 points in Week 6 (Kuplen)

Martinez rushed for 256 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Tigers’ 40-32 win over Cheylin. He also completed two passes for 70 yards and a score.

  1. Mitch Budke, QB, Chase County – 67 points in Week 3 (Maycock)

Budke ran for 271 yards and five touchdowns and also completed both of his pass attempts for 42 yards and a touchdown as Chase County jumped out to a 36-6 halftime lead and ended the game via the 45-point mercy rule in the third quarter with a 52-6 win over Valley Falls. Budke had touchdown runs of 56, 3, 2, 61 and 7 yards and his touchdown pass went for 32 yards to Aidan Eidman.
 

  1. Trey Vincent, QB, Wheatland-Grinnell – 66 points in Week 8 (Nicholl)

Vincent finished the regular season with a 232-yard, three-touchdown passing performance in a 55-20 win over Triplains-Brewster. He also added 137 yards rushing and two more scores in the game.
 

  1. Keiondre Smith, QB, Caldwell – 62 points in Week 3 (Nicholl)

    A junior, Smith continued his terrific production that began at the start of 2020. Smith led a comeback in a 36-34 home Eight-Man, Division II district win versus Norwich. Smith scored the game-tying 32-yard touchdown, and Jackson Risley ran in the game-winning two-point conversion. Caldwell is 3-0. Smith completed 5 of 12 passes for 120 yards with two touchdowns against one interception. He rushed 36 times for 200 yards and three scores.
  1. Harrison Voth, QB, Cheney – 61 points in Week 4 (Boston)

    Voth completed 11 of 18 passes for 194 yards and six touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 49-7 win over Hugoton. He also added 66 yards rushing on the night.
  1. Isaac Detweiler, QB, Axtell – 60 points in Week 8 (Maycock)

    Detweiler passed for 234 yards and four touchdowns and added 71 rush yards and another score as the Eagles rolled to a 54-8 win over Onaga in Week 8

 

Week 8 Picks to Click results (scoring):

Isaac Detweiler, QB, Axtell – Detweiler passed for 234 yards and four touchdowns and added 71 rush yards and another score as the Eagles rolled to a 54-8 win over Onaga back in Week 8. (Maycock – 60 pts)

Jackson House, QB, St. James Academy – House passed for 273 yards and two scores and added 119 yards rushing and another touchdown as the Thunder topped Bishop Miege, 45-28 back in Week 8. (Clisso – 56 pts)

Nash Money, RB, Wellsville – Money rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns and had a 33-yard reception in the Eagles’ Week 8 win over West Franklin, 49-0. (Kuplen – 32 pts)

Quantre Moore, DE, KC Washington – Moore registered 16 tackles, 3 sacks, and recovered two fumbles but the Wildcats came up short, 21-20 to Atchison back in Week 8. (Boston – 52 pts)

Mikey Pauley, QB, Blue Valley Northwest – Pauley rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns and added 84 pass yards in the Huskies 21-0 win over Blue Valley West back in Week 8. (Schremmer – 36 pts)

Kyle Reese, QB, Lebo – Reese passed for 227 yards and five touchdowns and added 23 yards rushing in the Wolves 56-0 win over Marais des Cygnes Valley back in Week 8. (Gilmore – 54 pts)

2021 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle

- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
