In our 2019 Picks to Click feature, we selected several players or units from across the state each week that we felt would have breakout performances. We assembled a team of eight media members to select one player (or unit) each week and tracked the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring. 

The final standings for the season are as follows:

Top ten weekly performances for Picks to Click this season:

  1. Will Day, QB, Wichita Homeschool – 95 points in Week 7 (Gilmore)

    Day had a night in the Warriors 70-24 victory over Sunrise Christian. The senior quarterback completed 22 of 34 passes for 396 yards and six touchdowns and added 10 carries for 143 yards and a score on the ground.
  1. Tyler Good, QB, Lincoln – 75 points in Week 2 (Baetz)

    Good lived up to his name with a 227-yard, six-touchdown performance rushing along with 110 passing yards and another score. The Leopards blasted Wilson, 58-12.
  1. Lance Hoffsommer, QB, Sedgwick – 73 points in Week 7 (Boston)

Hoffsommer passed for 363 yards and five touchdowns and added 12 rushing yards and a score in the Cardinals’ 48-8 win over Sublette.   

  1. Ty Black, QB, Shawnee Mission Northwest – 70 points in Week 1 (Clisso)

Black completed 24 of 33 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns in the Cougars’ 49-33 win over Shawnee Mission West. Ty also rushed for 67 yards and two more scores.

  1. Adam Albertini, QB, St. Paul – 68 points in Week 1 (Kuplen)

Albertini rushed for 229 yards and six touchdowns in the Indians’ 52-14 win over Sedan. He also passed for 47 yards and another score.

Colton McCarty, QB, Cheylin – 68 points in Week 2 (Maycock)

McCarty passed for 139 yards and three scores and added 194 yards on the ground with three more touchdowns. Cheylin beat Rolla, 47-0.
 

Reece Struckhoff, RB, Thunder Ridge – 68 points in Week 4 (Maycock)
 

Struckhoff passed for 143 yards and four touchdowns, and added 121 yards and three scores on the ground as the Longhorns beat Northern Valley, 62-12. 
 

  1. Quinn Buessing, QB, Axtell – 64 points in Week 1 (Gilmore)
     

Buessing passed for 207 yards and three touchdowns and added 29 yards rushing and four more scores in the Eagles’ 58-12 win over Beloit St. John’s-Tipton.
 

  1. Dalton Mackley, QB/WR, Weskan – 60 points in Week 7 (Kuplen)


Mackley rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns and added 41 passing yards and a score in the Coyotes’ 58-13 win over Western Plains.
 

  1. Nate Burdette, QB, Maranatha Academy – 57 points in Week 3 (Gilmore)

    Burdette passed for 162 yards and two touchdowns and added 110 yards rushing with three scores as the Eagles routed Colony-Crest, 60-0.

 

Week 8 Picks to Click results (scoring):

Carson Cox, RB, Beloit – Cox ran for 83 yards and a touchdown and caught a 2-yard touchdown pass in the Trojans’ 47-0 win over Russel in Week 8. (Baetz – 20 pts)

Darrien Holloway, RB, Osborne – Holloway rushed for 93 yards and had an 11-yard reception in the Bulldogs’ 40-34 win over Thunder Ridge back in Week 8. Holloway was injured in last week’s playoff win over Sylvan-Lucas and will miss the remainder of the season. He finished his senior year with 970 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns. (Nicholl – 10 pts)

Jacob Klipp, LB, Hanover – Klipp registered ten tackles and intercepted a pass in Hanover’s 52-34 win over Frankfort. (Maycock – 24 pts)

Tuck Lang, QB/RB, Minneola – Lang rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns in Minneola’s 46-20, Week 8 win over Bucklin. For the season, Lang rushed for 2,025 yards and 35 touchdowns as the Wildcats finished 8-2 and reached the second round of the Eight-Man, Division II playoffs. (Gilmore – 45 pts)

A.J. Patillo, LB, Olathe North – Patillo registered 10 tackles in the Eagles’ 52-7 win over Olathe Northwest to close out the regular season. For the season, Patillo now has 117 stops as the Eagles prepare for a quarterfinal game this week against Blue Valley West. (Clisso – 20 pts)

Wyatt Pedigo, RB, Hoisington – Pedigo rushed for 290 yards and four touchdowns and had 28 receiving yards in the Cardinals’ 38-7 win over Norton to claim the District 8 championship. (Kuplen – 55 pts)

Calvin Stapp, RB, Colby – Stapp rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries as the Eagles downed Goodland, 56-7. (Boston – 27 pts)


2019 Picks to Click Rules

- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.

- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.

- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.

- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.

Scoring system

QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs

- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver

- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown

Offensive line

- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense

- 3 points for every offensive touchdown

Defensive player

- 2 points for every tackle

- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
