Teamkong was created for the purpose of promoting Pittsburg State University Football and giving its fans an online place to communicate with one another.
Founded at the end of the 2000 football season, the name for the group was suggested by a member, remembering the Sports Illustrated article from the College Football preview in 1993, entitled "Teamkong." (see SI article layout below) The daily tasks of maintaining the site are performed by Dr. Wayne Gilmore, a 1993 Pittsburg State graduate. He is also a 1989 graduate of Colgan High School in Pittsburg, KS.
A practicing optometrist with Eyecare Associates of Parsons, KS, Wayne is a Pittsburg, Kansas native who now lives in Parsons, KS with his wife, Tracy and their sons, Luke and Zachary, and daughter Bridgette.
